+1 yThat is solely dependent on the guy. There are single dads out there who are days because they only ever look for the hookup, but there are also single dads who are only interested in a serious relationship.
Some signs to watch out for include how much time he spends with his kid (s), how invested and involved he is in the childrearing process, how nurturing he is toward his kid (s). A dad that goes out of his way to spend time with, take care of and nurture his child (ren), or a dad that has primary custody and is raising his kid (s) well is more likely to be interested in a serious relationship as they know how to invest love and nurturing care into a relationship. A dad who spends sporadic visitation time and/it isn't fully invested in the time they spend with their kid (s) is most likely just looking for hookups, because of they can't invest in their child (ren), they're not going to invest in you.
Note: this opinion comes from a single dad who had primary custody for the first 7 years of his child's life until the mom started having more kids and spends every possible moment with his kid making sure they know they are loved and wanted and always have a safe space with me no matter what.00 Reply

Just depends , I am a single Dad that had my heart broken by my ex that cheated on me , I would like to fall in love again but I have more walls up protecting my heart , I no longer jump into a relationship with a girl because most girls’ I have dated don’t really know what they want and think they know what they want. So I just go with the flow and give to her what I am hoping to receive in return , sadly most girls today are selfish and only want what’s best for them , and can’t truly be honest , I am not saying all girls are like this but the one’s that entered my life were. So I just go with the flow , I am not going to commit to a girl that can’t commit to me period , if she just wants sex that’s fine and dandy just be honest about it , sadly most girls I have dated weren’t honest

If you ever want to fall in love with someone, there will always be a chance your heart will be broken. There is no such thing as getting in a relationship where there is absolutely no chance of having it broken. If you give someone the power to make you happy, they also have the power to make you very sad.

The girl I am dating now is hot and cold towards me , one minute she loves me then next she treats me like shit , She claims she suffers from anxiety but she attacks me for the dumbest things , if I defend myself to her and tell her how I feel , I am always in the wrong , so I tell her if she clearly isn’t happy with me then she needs to move on and stop screwing with my heart , when I walk away she comes chasing me back , and stupid me sits there with open arms cuz I do like her , I just don’t know what her deal is as to why she is hot and cold towards me? I tell her you either stand by my side or go our separate ways , she then apologizes and jumps in my arms , At times I feel she is using me or she is seeing someone else by the way she acts towards me , when I express my feelings of concern to her she acts like I am the one that is crazy when clearly she is the one that’s crazy , At times I ask myself should I just walk away and find someone else but I don’t cuz I know that won’t solve anything , So I honestly do not know what to do because I do like her a lot when she is t flipping out on me but for some reason she keeps doing this hot and cold shit to me

First step to having a good relationship is to love yourself. This will prevent you from gravitating to the wrong people. If your gut tells you something is wrong, there probably is something wrong.
Find yourself someone who is sane. If you date an insane girl, her mental problems will be your problems - +1 y
She sounds like she could have either anxious attachment style or fearful avoidant attachment style. It develops from a messed up/ unhealthy childhood. Have you talked to her about her childhood? That would reveal why she's acting like that. It doesn't mean she's insane, she's just damaged from an imperfect life. From shitty parents, from awful things happening to her. When you learn about this persons attachment style better you know how to be with them and help them. If you are secure then you can help them. Usually anxious and fearful avoidants go for toxic dudes because they think that's normal from their upbringing. I'm a little bit wondering if you are a little bit toxic because people with unhealthy attachments styles never go for a secure guy. It's just so rare. Not trying to insult you but maybe you should look inward as well since it seems like you want to be in a unhealthy relationship.

I was molested from an older woman when I was a young boy and just recently I just researched it and found out some shocking things about myself that through the years I didn’t think it impacted me the way it did. So for some reason I do draw In broken girls’ that come off as sweet and innocent and have a caring heart but then they turn vicious , I know I am not perfect but I know I treat girls’ the same way i want to be treated , I am always told I am a nice guy that has a big heart , which that big heart takes a lot of abuse from selfish girls that have cheated on me etc. Most girls I have been with said they want love , they want a partner they want to share things together and do things together basically the same things I want with a girl , but then turn around and back stab me and all of a sudden I no longer matter to them anymore , they start finding flaws in me instead of all the positives in me , making themselves excuses for their actions , they never can admit they are wrong , I was always to blame , so this girl is doing the same shit to me , she had a shitty childhood as well so who knows , I feel like she is screwing around on me but keeping me as a convenience cuz apparently I am a nice guy

I'm very sorry for what happened to you. That is extremely awful and disgusting. I cannot imagine how that was for you. I would like to pray for you if that would be ok with you?
I say read up about anxious and fearful avoidant attachment styles. I'm not sure which one she is. Though, with the hot and cold approach she's probably fearful avoidant.
You got to educate yourself about what's going on in her mind to better understand her instead of seeing her as the bad guy. I don't blame you for being upset and feeling used, you have every right to feel that way.
But I guess if you want to stay with her you need to understand her mental health better. You could easily break up with her if you want, I wouldn't blame you honestly. But if you really want to stay with her, you need to understand how to tame the beast. The fact that you know you attract broken girls maybe you should work on that and go for the opposite.
If you meet someone new and after a while start to show the same broken signs that every last girlfriend has shown, run for the hills. Don't stay. You are worth happiness. You don't have to be punished by staying with someone who also has issues they need to work on.
Everyone needs to take care of their own shit. When they are unhealthy and got things going on with themselves, usually that person is supposed to work on themselves. Not go into a unhealthy relationship and it's just stress and turmoil the entire time.
Like why even be in a relationship like that? Is being alone really that much worse? Is being with someone who doesn't treat you right more important than your well-being, than your mental health? - +1 y
These are things to think about and consider. How long do you date these girls before making it official? You should do a deep dive vet of a few months before making her your girlfriend because true colors come out eventually.
You need to protect yourself. Don't give every girl a chance not every girl is worth it. You need to take care of yourself too. The way your girlfriend is treating you now is extremely despicable. It's a two way street not a one way road where you do all the work she's just there to make your life difficult.
You need to set boundaries with her and if she can't respect them then kick her to the curb. If you mean something to her then she will try harder. If she doesn't or she tries to gaslight you, which she is gaslighting by the way by making you feel like you are the crazy one. Also, she's not a narcissist, is she? If she doesn't try to change to make you happy for once then tell to take a long walk off a short peer. She's not worth your time and doesn't deserve you. - +1 y
Thank you , one thing I have learned from my relationships is to always wear your partners shoes before wearing your own , if your partner can not do that for you then it’s best to walk away , cuz if someone truly loved you and valued you they would be doing the same for you. So I am leaning to end it with her and move on she clearly doesn’t know what she wants and I am tired of being a punching bag
- +1 y
If you break up with her, make sure to take a few months off dating. I don't know how men heal after a relationship and how much time they give themselves but you need to allow yourself to feel the emotions that will come after the breakup. Even if you feel fine, you should still give yourself time to learn from your last relationship and improve yourself. Improvement takes time and it shouldn't be rushed. Take this time to do things that make you happy and benefit you physically and mentally. It's not your fault that you go for damaged girls but now that you see the pattern, break it. If you are comfortable, I recommend talking to a psychologist as well. He/she will help you look within yourself and start to repair the broken pieces from your past. Though, I would say experiment with your therapist, if you find one that you don't like you aren't forced to stay. Go around talking to different professionals until you find the one you trust and feel comfortable with the most.

I just got home from work and she was here waiting for me acting like everything is ok between us , after all the negative shit she has said to me , I told her we need to talk and she said everything is fine I am just having a lot of stress and anxiety , I said well you said some vicious things to me and I feel it’s best we take some time apart so I can reflect on myself , I need to feel happiness , she then blew up on me again and said I don’t care about her that I only care about myself , I laughed and said I’m sorry you feel that way but ask yourself are you really happy? Because I don’t sense happiness from you when you attack me and say mean things and blame me for everything that isn’t happiness to me that is misery , she said stop trying to play a victim , I said am not playing cuz I am one , she jumped in her car and took off l. The girl is a complete wack job period

@Finchie40
Its quite a shock to me how you would complain all day about her but never break up with her. And the reason why is because you have issues yourself. Two unhealthy people cannot have a normal healthy relationship. You're right... go self-reflect... take a good look at yourself before you go back into the dating scene. - +1 y
I just feel most girls’ need drama in their lives if there is no drama she will lose interest and be bored , Most of my ex girlfriends have tried coming back to me whether it was for sex or they realized how good I was to them , Most girls don’t know how good they have it until it’s gone , unfortunately I don’t take exes back period , I have the mindset of , if someone can walk away from you they don’t truly value you , if you can’t fix what is broken the first time around then you aren’t worth my time period. I learned through the years to never chase a girl that is walking away from me , when I was younger I made that mistake realizing how much of of an idiot I was for trying to get a girl to love me like I loved her , if she truly loved me she wouldn’t be walking away period , So I learned to value myself worth a realized I want a girl that stands by my side the same way I stand by hers , I don’t waste my time with girls that just like the convenience of me. Sadly most girls today just like convenience and will keep a guy around until she finds another cock to jump on , so the only reason I keep taking this girl back is because she keeps coming back to me after we have an argument or disagreement , but if she disappeared from me for more that a day I will kick her to the curb where she belongs

Sometimes we attract trash because we dont know how to get rid of them. Reflect on why you keep attracting the wrong people while others are able to attract the right people
364 opinions shared on Dating topic. sweetie, I'm going to warn you... the playing field is not the same for men and women.
if you marry a single dad, get ready to be doing the BULK of raising children that aren't yours. As a woman, you will be called a stepmother (even though you have never given birth) and be expected to do most of the housework and child rearing duties.
My advice to any woman looking to have kids... never let a man force you to have kids that you don't want or let him decide HOW MANY KIDS you will have. Do not cave into his needs. Because reality is... you will be doing the majority of the work raising the kids. If he wants, you to have 5 kids while you only want 2 kids... do not give him 5. Because at the end of your life , you will find yourself stressed the fuck out trying to raise 5 kids while he does the bare minimum.

+1 yIn my opinion, experience with a single mom I know and one single dad I know - if they're not 100% ready for a serious relationship, they're always just looking for hook ups.
And how many people do you know that are very sure they're ready for a serious relationship?
Exacly.
Anyways - they don't want another person messing up their relationship with their kid, nor take away too much time from their kid, so they just look for hookups most of the time, as it is easier and won't compromise their kid's life in any way.

+1 yYes and women are more attracted to single dads because more than likely they already dropped to one knee, asked for hand in marriage and did the whole thing... they know what they want whereas single guys who are wishy washy is 50/50 at best of giving women what they want.

+1 yI'm thinking most single dads would be looking for a serious relationship... for his kids. It's better to have a live-in mother. While he's looking through, it wouldn't surprise me if he had a few hookups.

+1 yStatistically single fathers are not like single mothers. The average single mother is a high school dropout, on welfare, with multiple kids from god knows who the father is.
I say this as in general, as many men say, the courts favour the female so for a guy to be a single father means he has to typically be an upstanding member of society.
So by default the average single father is more selective with the people they let into their & their kids' lives. Whereas average single mother accept anyone who says "hello"
.
So give that to be blunt it depends on you.
If you have no mothering or nuturing value or traits you're going to be a fling. Causal sex, friends with benefits, and you'll never be more than that.
If you are a mature respectable and decent woman with mothering or nuturing traits then you have potential to be more than a fling.
It's that simple.
10 ReplyI feel that some are ready depending on how long ago they parted from the baby mama/ partner. I believe there are 4 groups to categorize the single dad's into.
Single but looking, hookups only, still has fling/attachment to baby mama, or commitment issues.
There are some men that will just mess around for example: My ex WAS NOT NOR EVER WILL BE ready for something serious. He wants me but when he can't have me to control he moves on to another girl and it lasts only a few months and his 5 year old has to suffer a new girl every time I tell him no.10 Reply321 opinions shared on Dating topic. There is no definitive answer to this question. It all depends on the guy and his unique circumstances. He could want either. The only way to know is to talk to him and find out what he wants. Maybe he is too busy trying to raise kids and just needs some sex/companionship from time to time or maybe he wants to have a serious relationship and have a normal family life again.
I know when I got divorced, there were times all I wanted was to get laid but all the while I missed the married life and really wanted that family life back.00 Reply- 2.8K opinions shared on Dating topic.
+1 y100% depends. some dad's aren't looking for a new partner. some are. i know a single dad who isn't looking or a new partner because of the way his last relationship ended and all he's done to parent his child and establish a healthy life for her.
i know single parents looking for partners.
it all depends

Anonymous(18-24)+1 yHmph, ironic. I don't have kids and I can't find a female anywhere in this country (U. S.) who's not either a party bunny or a baby momma "selling content, no meet ups, here's my Cashapp" schemer. The nicest, most grounded females I've come across that I message (when they're available, usually only online a few times a week), are female athletes. Zecira Musovic and Elena Rybakina, to name 2. Ironic. 2 famous athletes, non American.🤔
