Going on a date with a divorced guy. Is it a bad question to ask why they got a divorce or who called quits.

Do you really want him thinking about some other woman when he's with you? He'll tell you when he's ready, which might be date #3 or #4, but DON'T bring this up on the first date. Keep everything bright and upbeat!

That's a perfectly reasonable question if you are dating to find a life partner. You want to know what happened and what he learned from the experience. You should also ask him about his goals -- why is he dating? Where he like to be doing in five years?

Worse question to ever ask on a first date. Chances are he will end the date early or choose not to go on a 2nd date, if you even hit it off. Why they are divorced is really none of your business until he decides to share that information.

If you're serious about having a relationship with him then laying your cards out on the table isn't such a bad idea. I would go for it. As long as you're will to answer some tough questions yourself
