how normal is it for a guy to spend $250 on a date then hook up and then ghost the girl? For the record he could have bowed out after $80 at dinner…Why not just spend $50 in drinks and still hook up and still ghost her?

As for the drinks thing, maybe he wasn't sure. Maybe he needed the calories of real food. Maybe it's a tasty restaurant. Also, $250 isn't universally prohibitive. I used to make over a grand a day and had no bills so a $250 dinner didn't bother me, now that I make less and have a house and two rescue kittens to support $250 looks different than it did before. I don't know your guy's financial situation so I can't say.
