Why do girls get jealous of other unattractive girls being attracted to their boyfriends?

I was attracted to a decent looking guy before and his fiance wanted to kill me when she found out I had a crush on him. I'm not a pretty woman so why get jealous of me.

I guess it's the thought of anyone being attracted to their significant other. Sees them as a potential threat even if they don't have a chance

Same thing happens for guys and their girls. Like girls get hella messages and even if the guys have no chance it can still be bothersome
