Is it in person or online?
If it's online you're just gonna have to figure out the appropriate message you'd like to send, but be prepared to have something besides a greeting to talk about, otherwise it might be awkward and dry.

If you want to talk to someone in person, I don't even really know how to do that. Attractive people are intimidating so I usually give them a wide berth, that way I don't embarrass myself. I wish I had better advice, but I don't be shooting my shot online or in person.

Maybe ask their name, or make up an excuse. Maybe even accidentally mistake them for someone else, and then ask their name so you'll know what to call them the next time you decide to approach?

He'll be happy with anything. Men aren't approached as much as women and it shows a) you aren't a coward and b) he won't have to second guess if you're into him.

Do you have any shared locations? Work together, have a hobby or hangout in common, stuff like that? Go to the same wine store/museum/corner cafe? Ask him how he likes the most recent change there.
