Is it weird for a hs senior (f17) to be into or date a hs sophomore (m15/16)?

There’s this guy that I’m kind of crushing on and I think he might be too, but I’m not sure how weird it would be to be together. I’m a younger senior as I just turned 17 and I don’t know which year was born in. Last year, I dated someone two years younger that me and it did not go well. Everyone called me a cougar and a predator (sometimes joking, sometimes not) but it felt very hard for me. This new guy is my type and very funny and smart, and I haven’t blushed like this in a long time (maybe even before the guy I dated last year). We’re in many classes together and we see each other a lot more now, but would it be weird to have feelings for him or want to date him?

It's not common, so at least it's not cliche, but, the problem becomes, you need to know your state law. Once you turn 18, what can you do with a 15 or 16 year old. Only your state and your state only can tell you that

I don't think so no, wouldn't go younger than that. But those ages are okay in my opinion.
