Comfort her in whatever way works best for her and talk her through it until she relaxes. Then make sure she feels safe as she drifts off back to sleep or stay awake with her if sleeping is not an option anymore.

That depends. If she wakes me up to tell me about it I would be a bit annoyed. If I was already awake I would give her a hug.
