Well I'll put an extreme example to try to make a point. It's just an example.

Imagine you're going to a gala-party with your S. O. and he or she decides to go naked.
    Ask yourself:
    - How will that reflect on your image at the party?
    - Will you think that your S. O. is selfish by choosing what he/she wants without caring for your opinion?
    - What effect will the dress have on others at the party? Will it mess the experience for others at the party? (Just like going to the movies and having an a*shole yelling and howling in the movies)

It is an extreme example but it does show situations in which the partner should be able to give some input about what you wear.

It's not like a partner would be the one deciding every little detail about the outfit (like some fashion designer).

But there is a balance in there somewhere to be found.

It depends. If you’re w someone who is of high value, a high status they have a certain image to maintain. I would think that whether it’s a man or woman who maintains a certain image that needs to be upheld not only by them but those who represent them.

They should not decide no. I am fine with him having preferences and I can even understand if he would say I dont want you to wear this. I am also more than happy if he makes suggestions but in the end its my decision and should stay my decision.
I am taking what he likes and dislikes into consideration.
On the other hand if a partner would be against wearing something (too revealing, too lousy, dirty, etc.) I can understand not wanting to be seen with them or if its a regular, and not changing thing break up.

Suggestions are appreciated but unless it's like a gift of clothes then the answer is no lol

Of course. It's only her opinion that matters, not some rando on the street. I'm trying to look good for her, and everyone has their preferences on what that consists of. Flannel and jeans vs a bespoke suit vs a button up and some khakis... all of those are very different vibes. If there's something she absolutely loathes I don't want to be wearing it when we go out together.

I don't think so! He shouldn't have a say as that "say" can be judgmental. He should have an "opinion" as that can be uplifting, mainly if you look good in his eyes...🤷‍♂️
He should feel every time when you dress up like, he Dates you for the Very first time, and he is mesmerised by your looks.

Yes, especially if you go out. If you are expecting protection and everything your partner.. it’s actually expected that you listen and adhere to them. Because if a situation arises and you choose not to listen.. then your partner reserves the right to not protect if I tell you not to wear something so it doesn’t put us in situations and you ignore me and think I’m trying to control, then don’t expect my protection if shit goes down. You don’t have the right to do what you want and expect me to follow my end of the deal.

This is a relationship and you should both know each others' compatibilities. I don't see the harm in hearing their opinion. Maybe an outfit he or she is wearing is just actually really bad. You aren't doing them a favor by allowing them to wear something tacky in public if such clothing attracts attention.

Let's say, either party wanted to wear a barely-covering swimsuit at a public beach with children nearby. This would go into questions of cultural context and decency.

Put it this way, the way I dress, I'm dressing to be on par with him. I'm not going to go out there and make him look like a fool. It boils down to the respect I have for him.

If he wants to change how I dress, but my style is "revealing " or "promiscuous " or "trashy" and he expects to dress ne up and portray a wholesome image... that's not me. You knew that was my style

Maybe? If he wants to wear gym shorts and a tank top to your grandpa's funeral at a traditional place of worship, yes, it would be fine to protest. If he breaks out the tape measure because the dress you are wearing to the mall looks like it might not quite reach mid calf, tell him to get lost.

Nope everyone is responsible enough to dress themselves without their partner steeping in to judge their outfit. If a man is doing this then he is a control pos so leave him

To an extent. Keep in mind, when you show a lot you’re displaying yourself for other people to see. It’s better to respect your partner’s wishes of exclusivity and they should always respect your wishes as well.

Yes, She should be a reflection of me and I of her. She isn't going out looking like a street worker, and I won't go out like an alleyway drug dealer.

Some advice on being a modest and reserved Giga Chad never hurts. It’s like giving a homeless person money. If you see someone being stupid, you should speak life into their dead insides.

Anyone can have opinions. Doesn't mean you have to pay attention to them.
Ultimately it just depends on the consequences of making particular choices.

If she wants my opinion I'll give it to her. But I don't get to choose what she wears. I don't get to judge her or tell her she "can't" or "shouldn't" wear something.
