Is it normal to have interest in someone?

I honestly never thought it was normal for me. To me, I felt desperate if I liked someone. I would feel so guilty that I would keep quiet in case anyone thought I was psychotic and they would shame me for having feelings. I would get so scared if I liked someone that I would suppress my feelings until they go away.

It’s very normal. People have managed to form relationships that start with initial attraction for thousands of years. To avoid much emotional pain, instead of sitting on that initial interest and letting it grow into a lot of emotions, if you think the subject of your interest might be a good match go ahead and chat with him, smile…basically give him signs you are interested in him. If he doesn’t reciprocate your interest you can quickly move on before getting emotionally invested.

Actually, all my family are in relationships. I mean, they would support me if I wanted one. But, it’s the fact that I don’t have good luck with men that they would see me as desperate and obsessive.

I don’t give in because I become depressed. I don’t trust myself because I would get these unrealistic thoughts and I don’t want to be that kind of person.
