My crush is so much quicker and smarter than me and gets better Grades. I ignored him flirting with me because I feel inferior to him since he is also very handsome, sophisticated and athletic.
Did you ever meet a woman you were very attracted to but just didn’t find intelligent enough to keep up with you?
I'll answer this question indirectly. In high school, there was a really good looking guy who was very smart and opinionated. In English class, he would always take the lead in discussions about what was read, along with another person or two. I was the quiet one, never saying anything unless I was asked. I felt inferior in a way, although I felt most of the books we read were dark and dull (Joseph Conrad's, "Heart of Darkness"). So, I never thought this guy would like me, but it seemed like he did. He used to look at me a lot in the hallway, hold the door for me and say something trivial, and once I saw him at a classroom door window staring at me as I passed along in the hallway on the way to the bathroom I just got the feeling he liked me. But I wasn't impressed with him because he seemed too different from me and too popular with the girls who all had crushes on him. Besides, my father was especially strict with his daughters. Today, that high school man is a politician in the Bronx, NY, has done a lot for the area, I was told by another high school friend still living in NY. So, he was intelligent, but I had different reasons I could not go out with him.
Today, an intelligent man is a super turn on for me. He doesn't have to be that attractive, as long as he is attractive to me.

+1 yYou'd be surprised, but your intelligence doesn't necessarily make you attractive to men. Just like your career, or your income, or your achievements -- these things to us are like our figurine collection to you. Women simply make a very dumb mistake of projecting their own wants and needs unto men, thinking we're seeking the same from you, as women tend to lack empathy (not sympathy).
Now, if you're an absolute retard with zero brain cells, then there's just no point in keeping you around after sleeping with you after a few times; at best to simply keep you as a side piece for a while until you become too annoying. However, we'd still go for it... most of the time.
However, if you're not particularly intelligent, yet not totally braindead, then that's not really a dealbreaker for us. You see, women seek for reasons to disqualify a man -- even for reasons as shallow as not liking our smartphone or our socks. We, men, quite otherwise seek reasons to qualify a girl. She's not particularly intelligent? Not a problem: we want to be a portal for women to experience the world through us, and in the process mold a girl into a woman for our individual liking. Therefore improving your intelligence is something we'd gladly work on, as humans tend to get smarter while communicating with someone smarter, and we won't really judge a woman for being less smart or intelligent. It's not even nearly as much "ick" it is to us as it is to women.

Asker+1 yyeah maybe but have you ever met a girl that was just too dull and predictable to fall in love with?
- +1 y
We don't fall in love in a way women do. When we try to get a girl, we do it for one and only one reason: sex. Not because you're intelligent, funny, have charisma and everything else women look for in men. You're good-looking? Okay, we want to have sex with you, hence why we even interact with women.
Here's the kicker that women either don't know, or hate to admit: *after* we have sex with a woman do we even begin to evaluate whether it's worth sticking around. Hence why there's a lot of ghosting after sex: a guy decided that a girl isn't really worth being a girlfriend, so he either outright dumps her after banging her, or he can keep a girl for a while (for sexual access) while ALREADY deciding in his mind he'll never stick with her, so after a few weeks, months or even years, when a girl will bring up "so who are we" conversation, it will be a call for a guy to stop pretending and it's time to leave.
And again, "too dull" or "too predictable" are female projections onto what men seek in women, as women lack empathy. Women don't know AND don't care what men want/seek in women, therefore women delude themselves into thinking we probably are seeking for same things women are seeking. We aren't. Things you've mentioned, especially "too predictable" in a woman, are actually good for us, as we don't want more chaos in our lives. It's women that seek excitement.
When women look at men, they think "how he makes my life better?". We evaluate women via question "is she making my life worse?". Thus an unpredictable woman is in no way, shape or form a good thing for long-term relations, as women are already irrational and erratic enough due to their hormones and emotions.
- +1 y
As for being "too dull", again; we want to be a portal for a woman to explore the world through us. Women tend to "absorb" personality of their men over time, thus if a guy is intelligent, a woman will look up to him. If she looks up to him, eventually she'll learn from him. And we're more than happy to be teachers for women, while women tend to hate to teach men and want us "pre-assembled". So you're seeking an issue where there's none.
As for "falling in love", we fall in love differently and over longer period of time, for much different reasons. She isn't annoying, isn't an agent of chaos in our live, she doesn't nag, she can cook a meal, can shut up when necessary, and uses her superior social awareness that are innate in women to support us on our mission? That's love and wife material right there.
While unpredictable, chaotic, erratic, overly energetic women are for temporary fun only, until they turn elderly and there's a fresh meat on a block. You can find millions of them on tiktok bashing and crying about men.
Asker+1 yi meant predictable as in not stimulating, boring conversations, no banter etc. if you dont care about personality and intellect then why dont you consider every attractive girl that is good in bed relationship material? i think intelligence has a huge impact on compatibility
- +1 y
Again; we are built different, thus we react differently and proceed differently. If a girl doesn't have major deal breaking characteristics (such as being a nagging hag, ran-through hoe, loud obnoxious bitch which is nowadays called "boss babe", retarded feminist that won't cook etc.), then what *you* (as a woman) may consider "deficiencies" in a person regardless of gender, aren't necessarily "deficiencies" in our eyes when it comes down to women. Pause and re-read this sentence to get a grasp on how we are different.
We don't really expect stimulating, exciting conversations with women, as there's no real burden of performance on women to be... Well, stimulating, exciting and/or intelligent, as men don't care as much about these things in opposite gender like women do, unless you're totally braindead. And for us (men) it is NOT a dealbreaker. It is a dealbreaker in eyes of women only.
I repeat once again: women tend to like it when a man is intelligent, among many other things. Men like when we can be a portal for a woman to explore the world through us with us, hence we're more than happy to provide this "exploration", while women typically hate to teach men and strongly prefer us to be "pre-assembled". This "exploration" includes a conversation or even outright a monologue: a guy is more than happy talking for an hour non-stop, passionately explaining something to a girl so that she can learn; moreover, as he does it, she grows more fond of him in the process. - +1 y
In reverse, however, we tend to get annoyed having to listen to your gender for a prolonged period of time, as you seldom have something logical to say, frequently dance around your words instead of saying something bluntly, as you don't want to sound "mean", and frequently lose chain of thought. Or we tend to dislike when you're too experienced and too intelligent, as now you're barely moldable, too stuck in your own ways -- this in general is a reminder and a testament of other men being in your life before us, which is a huge turnoff -- and there's very little we can offer to be "portal" to.
And here's the catch: if a girl likes the guy, she starts learning from him and even adapts herself to him, NOT the other way around. Thus over time you'll become more intelligent, more rational etc., and we (men) will see it as a fruit of our labor, of molding you into a woman we want.

+1 yI think guys don't require a woman to be intellectually exciting as much as they'd want her to be loyal, empathetic, physically attractive, and have a sense of humor (smart enough to laugh at his jokes).
There are some guys tho that do weigh more emphasis on intelligence. I would say they are the rarity. A lot of guys (and women took) don't want to be intellectually challenged when they come home, they want to be taken care of and have a place to relax with someone mostly easy going.00 Reply

2.1K opinions shared on Dating topic. No, that's never been a problem. I've never dated a girl who was, um... "slow" in the Forest Gump sense or worse, so it's not been an issue for me. I'm quite a bit above average in IQ, though there are certainly people smarter than me (and I know a couple, and have met others), and likely I've been "smarter" than most of the women I've dated, but that never mattered to me. We could always communicate, and while she might occasionally enjoy something I didn't, or didn't care about something I had an interest in, that's rarely the kind of thing that causes a problem in a relationship, at least for men.
Many, if not most, women CRAVE being with a man who is better than she is in nearly every way (taller, stronger, higher status, higher income, better educated, smarter, etc.) but men do not share this craving. We merely want a girl who is nice, sweet, feminine, and who wants us above others. That other stuff just doesn't matter to us.

smart people prioritize intelligence in their partners. Dumb people don't prioritize intelligence in their partners because they wouldn't have anything in common with a dumb person. It goes beyond academics. Dumb people do things that smart people don't do. Smart people think in a way that dumb people can't. Thats why they don't tend to get along.
but misogynist would always only date women that are dumber, less intelligent, less successful than him because in his mind, the woman must be inferior to the man.

No, mainly because I only get into a relationship with a girl that I have amazing chemistry and connection with to begin with , a girl that I am attracted to that has a lot in common with me I I don’t just get into a relationship with a girl based off of her looks , it takes more than just looks for me to even consider pursuing her and wanting to be with her , so if her and I have nothing in common , I won’t waste anymore of my time with her period , I have to feel a connection with a girl for me to even consider having sex with her , if she is lying to me , she might get me in bed , but it won’t last the long haul , basically thank you for a good time but not a long time

Intelligence runs in my family. My small family's niece is a borderline genius. Her brother has a PhD in nuclear chemistry from MSU. I am educated in computer science and electronics.
At my age I am single. All I seem to attract are bimbo women who are fun for a night or two. They are not the marrying type. I no longer am interested in them or these horny women in their middle ages.

+1 yI have a friend who is the epitome of "dumb blonde." She's got her own floral business, is decently attractive, fit, B-cup, etc. but after a while, having a conversation with her is intensely boring and you feel like you're carrying the entire burden of the interaction. If she developed her social skills and curiosity, I'd have dated her YEARS ago. However, I'm smart enough to know I can't change her or her interests.
No, you don't have to be more intelligent, but it sure helps when know how to have a conversation, be a pleasant person, compliment him sometimes. Even if he is much more intelligent than you, he can be attracted to your feminine qualities. Bonus points if you have interests in the "THINGS" he's interested in.
Remember that generally, women like discussing people and men like discussing things.00 Reply340 opinions shared on Dating topic. My second relationship was like this. But I can kinda understand how you feel. The first woman I fell in love with was very intelligent. I consider myself very intelligent, but she was more so. She had a stronger passion for learning new things as well. She was also physically very attractive and witty and funny. I felt like she was out of my league, but she was still into me. Don't let feelings of inadequacy stop you from taking a chance on love. What I did instead was let her inspire me to be better.
20 ReplyLack of intelligence shows up in different ways. Like being naive (relationship situations, like wearing very few clothing and going into a club not expecting to get hit on like come on now) , or being patronizing or not listening to what I am saying, or pushing the conversation to something way more bottom of the barrel.
Being excessively religious and not questioning what they have been told. (inverse of that as well super atheist to the point of insulting other poeple opinions)
As long as you have a curiousity about what he has to say and show respect to him (as he should respect you as well ) then I think it should be fine.

Naive in the sort of sense of like relationship skill naive. Dont flirt with other guys when your in a commited relationship. Dont a wear a bathing suit to a funeral. Like I don't know how to help such situations.
I am trying my best to summarize what I am saying. Try to understand the vibe I am presenting instead of just nitpicking one little detail.

Naive to think saying calm down would help in this situation. (The appropriate response would either be, Yes I understand or no I dont understand, here is where I dont understand. Or here is what I think to the best idea of what the user (myself ) is trying to say. )
Calm down is completely pointless.

Well with how you view yourself, I doubt you have a chance. you're basically already branding yourself as unworthy and haven't even tried or done shit.
My ex was a pretty naive person, yet I loved her to bits. It really doesn't matter that much, its how the mix is in the end. She possesed far greater social intelligence than me for example and I envied the effort she was able to put into things to be able to learn or master it.
I never thought someone wasn't intelligent enough to date me. At worst my attraction to a woman drops if I see we have too different ways of thinking and especially if she can't think by herself, that is she's too dependent from social circle/media opinions.
About you, it seems to me you are sabotaging yourself. Think about it: he is flirting so he likes you to some degree, you are putting in all the doubts.
10 Reply'Inferior' is a word I despise. Nobody should feel that way. Relationships in which one partner is more intelligent, handsome, succesful etc can often work just as fine as the other ones. It always requires a level of understanding of course, but if that isn't a problem, then there's absolutely nothing wrong with it.

Anonymous(25-29)+1 yYes. Being intelligent in itself doesn’t make someone a nice person or make me want to be with them. There are plenty of unpleasant people that I can’t stand who also happen to be intelligent.
Also, “opposites attract” as the saying goes. Sometimes you don’t want to be with someone who is too similar to yourself. If you are sharp, intelligent, etc. you don’t need your partner to bring those qualities to the relationship because you are already supplying them. You want someone who possesses the qualities you don’t have.
And finally, the honest truth is that if a guy finds a girl attractive, he isn’t going to care at all if she intelligent or not. It’s not high up on our list of priorities. In fact, we don’t have a list of priorities, like women do. We just fall in love. It’s about feelings. We don’t stop to question if someone’s IQ is high enough before we fall for them.

She about rolled her car driving out of my driveway.
She would frequently ask questions with very obvious answers.
She would ask completely random questions like "What do think aliens do for fun?" out of nowhere.
She was always late because she could not estimate time. Things that would take a hour she thought she could do in 10 minutes.
She rarely knew what I was talking about. It could be current events, history, tech, etc. She didn't have a knowledge bank to really understand most things.
Despite all this she was by no means dumb. Given her ditzyness and her fun bubbly outgoing personality it made her someone that everyone liked being around.

Anonymous(36-45)+1 yTo be honest, it's not super important to me that a woman I date have some amazing intellectual or academic pedigree. That's nice and all, but if she's hot, nice and fun, that's going to win every time.

Opinion Owner+1 yHow attractive are you, by the way? And are you nice and fun?
Asker+1 yAverage
Opinion Owner+1 ySo average all around? From your question it sounded like you thought of yourself as higher up in attractiveness than intelligence.
Asker+1 yApparently the guy thinks I’m attractive otherwise he wouldn’t always look at me when I’m not paying attention
Opinion Owner+1 yWell--that's a good sign!

+1 yI have not yet in my life. Unless she has some neurological condition, then no matter how much "smarter" I might think myself, she will know things that I do not.
00 Reply 321 opinions shared on Dating topic. Yes I a way. She was good looking but an air head. The relationship didn't last long but the sex was fantastic. Just got to the point I couldn't be with somebody that dumb.

Asker+1 yWhat did she do or say that made you think she was dumb?
I have but it was all about sex and not much more
10 ReplyDon’t sell yourself short, girl. If a man shows an interest in you then he finds you attractive. That’s enough reason to want to date someone.

+1 yYeah, it's awkward 'cuz we have nothing to talk about. Those kinds of women are only good for sexual relationships and maybe gossiping/sharing secrets with

+1 yYes, I once had a girlfriend for a short time. She looked great and we had a lot of fun in bed, but besides that, she was stupid. Didn't work for long either.

+1 yYeah, my first girlfriend, but I stayed with her for a long time since I had no experience before that

@Jdotbyvb it was fine, especially since she was cute
Asker+1 yWhy did you break up?
- +1 y
She was immature and annoying at the time and we were young but still old enough and legal, it lasted an over a year but I had nothing to compare with since it was a first relationship. Looking back I probably should’ve stayed with her compared to all my other relationships
Asker+1 yHow was she immature? Can you give me an example?
- +1 y
@Jdotbyvb I guess they just mean not on their level
- +1 y
At the time she was 18 and just seemed childish at times with the way she acted
- +1 y
@Jdotbyvb maybe they don’t get certain jokes or don’t have enough life experience to understand certain things, it could be any number of things
- +1 y
@Jdotbyvb Yeah it’s normal to me, I like younger women anyway and still looking
- +1 y
@Jdotbyvb I’m sure you won’t have a problem , being a woman it’s a little easier and guys don’t have unrealistic standards normally
- +1 y
@Jdotbyvb ok, and you can send me my soulmate 😊
- +1 y
@Jdotbyvb unless you like an older Guy like me 😊
- +1 y
@Jdotbyvb if you’re attractive they will, I would go for someone your age
- +1 y
@Jdotbyvb Yeah maybe, if you want you can private message me
- +1 y
@Jdotbyvb follow me back, you’re only level one and can’t message anyone yet until xper2

+1 y"dumb" gitls are fun until they let you hit it. But in the long run. Uh, NO, it's also embarrassing to introduce them to friends and family when they can't even tie their shoes... I like when I actually can have a conversation with the girl.

Anonymous(18-24)+1 ynot answering your question as i dont represent guy, but as a woman, if man is lacking intelligence, regardless how good looking they are, it is just a turn off for me

+1 ySometimes I feel dumb, sometimes I feel smart. You put me up against trump, and I'll feel like a rocket scientist, you put me up against a rocket scientist, ill feel like trump
00 ReplyIsn't that what most women are. I have only found women in 30+ range to be worth calling intelligent and even then a lot of them seem to be out of touch with reality 😞

MOST? stop divided by gender like that. that is bad sexism.
- +1 y
@strateguy632 I am not being sexist here. Just telling you about what has happened with me. It's not like I hate girls just saying they can be very immature
- +1 y
you wrote "most" and despite you are entitled to feel that, but writing about "most of any gender" is bad sexism based on gender. here worse insulting "most" women. think of a half billion Chinese women but you think "most" women are.
