Nooo it's a term for how a couple will basically use the third member. It's pretty frowned upon as a practice in the community in general. Male partners in the same vein are referred to as dragons

I've already stated a website that goes into more detail in my own response. But broken down to really simple terms, they don't practice poly. they just use it as a "threesome sex", so the extra person will always be being used for the couple's gain, rather than building a relationship with either/both of the couple.
