Local is better mainly because you can see each other more and get to know each other more in person , compared to LDR A LDR can work if you are both on the same page with things , it’s just a slimmer chance that it will work , time and space from each other can cause both of you 2 slip , so it just depends on how devoted you are to each other , I had a few LDR ‘s that worked for a good amount of time mainly because her and I were on the same page with things , the only down fall is not being able to see each other as often as you would like and leaving each other is the hard part , so as long as you both choose each other and make plans to be together and you are both honest with each other it can work
It would help if you defined LDR in terms of mileage or travel time. I dated my girlfriend for 8 months when she lived 85 miles away from me but I was able to see her almost every weekend and occasionally on a weekday. After 8 months, she sold her house and moved to my hometown to live with me.
Years Ago, Before I Began FB, I Did A Lot Of Local Dating and Mating. Loads. lol However, I Had Met a Muslim Back in 2011 and Ended up in Egypt Where in 2012, We Then Tied the Knot and I had Resided There For awhile. I later Dated Many others on A Dating Site That Were Not Far From Me. Four Years Ago, On Here, I Met a Man whom I Had a Relationship with. He was From The UK. However, Problems Arose and I Broke it Off A Year Ago but Trying to Be Friends. I Would Yes, Go Local Again if I Found Someone. xxoo

I tried long distance, just because I connected with them online and didn't really take into account the distance. In the short term it was great, met up on weekends but after a while it gets exhausting. Longterm is tough and expensive but I think if it was meant to be and forever, then moving would be an option. I prefer someone local.
I'm in one right now and it's difficult at times but so worth it when you get to see the person that you love. So I'm definitely open to it but only because it's him. I don't think I could do this again if this doesn't work out. But I'm hoping it does and we close the gap soon.
Open to both, my last long distance relationship was the best relationship I ever had by a long shot but it did eventually fail because we couldn't bridge the distance in time. I'm willing to try it again though but depends highly on the country. Locally would of course have a lot of upsides since I could visit her much more frequently, problem is that locally the housing market is terrible. So i'd be trading some big challenges for other big challenges.
Honestly, if the idea is having a real intimate relation, I don't see the point in being far away from each other. On the other hand, if that relation is more about intellectual exchanges of any kind, sure a long-distance relationship may work. One should still define the idea of "long distance": other country, other continent, other city, or just a few streets away? There may be some nice comprise situations ;0)
Depends on what you call an LDR. If you never actually even met the person in person it's not really a relationship, it's a fantasy. And even if you did meet them once or twice, you can't really get to know someone that way. So it's still shaky. It's not that an LDR can't work. But I think it has a lot less of a chance of working than a local relationship where you can be with someone in person frequently. An LDR is much riskier to invest yourself it.
"Depends on what you call an LDR. If you never actually even met the person in person it's not really a relationship, it's a fantasy. "
Falling in love with a penpal is a fantasy ✉️. Never met LDR, are not like years ago. They bringing more to the table; therefore I do believe you can forge a romantic relationship online.
I was open to non serious LD relationships, and once I was open to serious to a serious LDR.
The difference is that with the non serious one I knew it was going nowhere. With the serious LD relation, it was different. I honestly didn't know what was going on with that one and was gonna happen further on. Only thing I know nowadays is that LDR are out of my plans. They are overly complicated and extremely confusing.
I want to date a foreign man, but I would prefer a local connection.
Long distance relationships are harder to maintain than "traditional" relationships. Physically and mentally.
No locals, I want to be in a long distance relationship. I am not attracted to girls of my race i. e. Indian girls with black hairs. I am crazy about white girls especially the blonde ones. I would prefer white girl with any hair color other than black hair colour.
It depends on how much physical intimacy is important for you. For me , physical intimacy is a big part of the relationship, so I can't date someone in long distance.
I don't believe in long-term LDR. As a starter, when we are learning each other it could work, but after some time, we would have to start to see each other to be able to evaluate what's next.
we did that, i didn't care for the distance... necessity of the phone, difficulty supporting her in remote. got married, I much prefer being in the same house.
I consider the relationship I'm in now long distance because even though we live in the same city we live on opposite sides and because of that it's been a few months since we've seen each other in person
Used to not care... but after the experiences I had with my marriage only would I consider local or they would have to come to me I would never move for a guy ever again.
Long-distance relationships are not real relationships. They are acquaintances at best.
long distance is a waste of time, i find it hard to even call those relationships. but that's just me
I prefer local.. But I would be Opened to a long distance one if we met up a decent amount with the plan to move closer to each other and as long as we were both serious..
I prefer local, but if I really love the person I could do long distance too tbh
I did it for theree years. I was miserable really the whole time. Even when I went out to see her I would be miserable.
i have a real-life person but we're far apart a lot
Local, but I’m open to long distance if they’re worth it and loyal
How do you differentiate a long-distance relationship from being local?
I don’t trust local men in my town. I would definitely go for someone from another state. Then eventually go live with them because I honestly want out of my state.
Anyone would prefer it local, and as someone who had both LDR, I can tell you it usually end in a disaster.
But if it happened again, I'd jump on it.
My first relationship was mostly long distance, and she passed away. That left a mark, and now I’m almost scared of long distance relationships.
Never long distance, she could be the girl of my dreams and if it were only ever long distance I would just find a girl in person.
Local. Unless I was very interested in her and she come to live in my place or my city... I can't move cause of my work
As a man, I am the one who is responsible for covering all the cost of living... etc. so my part is more important unless she is making more money and she has more things to offer so I can leave my business and go to help her in her business, but if she is just an employee she can come and work with me
I have very bad experience, so never like long distance relationship
Definitely local. I need a lot of physical interaction.
Neither.
I'm a firm advocate of the solitude lifestyle. Love it myself and love it.
im open to LDR but it’d be hard i think
I could not be in a LDR.
