I was in a Long Distance Relationship way back before it was a thing. It was hard because there was no email or internet. We wrote letters to each other because phone calls were so expensive. I heard this song this morning and it reminded me of all the longing and confusion.. The doubts and the promise.

Yes met my second husband on gag 2016. We were LD for 4-5 years, broke up for a year. It helped us understand each other better and appreciate who we are.
after we got back together… we still had to resolve the issues…. he moved towards me and have been married over 2 years now. The benefit of us dating LD was that we took the time to clear up a lot of our differences. We now work really well together.
indeed the phones calls, the longing, and Meeting up every 2-3 weeks and taking long vacations together helped bring our courtship to a level that differ from conventional relationships.
without money and time, the LD would not have worked.

Although I want to have a foreign boyfriend (and maybe later a foreign husband), no I'm not in a long distance relationship.

LDR's are harder than "normal" relationships. I've heard some people who had been in them saying that LDR's can be frustrating. They said it also made them feel anxious and insecure. So they're not for everyone.

Yes they are hard. It is a lot of work. You are lonely most of the time. Lots of time you wonder if she found somebody else. Sometimes when you see her and have to leave you look at her as if it is for the last time.

Yes, I can imagine that. It's not easy. So I can see why many couples in this situation end up breaking up.

When I was much younger and single, I tried dating a girl about 2 hours away by car. We talked on the phone and I visited her... twice. But the distance was just too great and we broke up after about 6 months.
