Did I get rejected or is there a chance something could happen?

I’m in love with this girl I met in New York. We worked together for 2 months, and will be working together again in May 2024.

Essentially, I confessed the feelings that I had for her in early September 2023 (after we both went back to our home countries, UK and Australia respectively). She didn’t explicitly reject me but just said that she doesn’t think she’d be ready for anything in the next few months due to some personal issues that she told me about. She’s told me about them previously too so it all makes sense to me.

However, I’m unsure if she just said that to reject me in a friendly way or if it means she could be open to something in the future. I just want to move on but it’s hard because she didn’t give me a clear answer.

Just see if things take a natural course next time you work together. Half a globe’s distance is a huge obstacle to overcome and, at risk of seeming irrational, you can’t pledge to move to across the planet for someone you aren’t even with yet. Just be yourself. Be confident. Be authentic. If it’s meant to be and she’s interested it will find a way to develop.
