I have said that and many people I know in real life agree that it is true.

But many people believe and trust liars much more often because they are stupid. Plenty of people trusted others over me and ended up screwing themselves because of it, and a few even lost their jobs by not following my advice over others.

Absolutely. My radar goes off immediately. Anyone who points out how hot they are/how rich/how honest/how empathetic/how blah blah immediately lose credibility with me.

Never tell anyone to trust you. Show with actions and wait patiently till they do.

Yes. The surest way to make me suspicious is to say “you can trust me” or, somebody I barely know tries to exaggerate the regard they hold me in, or tries to endear me to them too quickly. That’s what con men do.

It's like women who say they are "sweet" generally the ones that are anything but sweet that tell you that.

Or people that say "believe me" repeatedly (Donald Trump) they do it because they know what they are saying is complete 🦬💩. So it becomes like a reflex action.

Compliments only work from one person to another, because they're a way of expressing appreciation. In your question, they'd immediately lose my trust in their current ability to speak English.
