What if he's achieved his dreams?

If I have a satisfying job, enough assets to retire today and lead a comfortable life even if not working, adult and independent kids... does it mean it's an end? Now what? Watching TV shows with a beer in my hand?
Not happen.
Even if I'm on the comfortable side of life, there is much more to discover, learn and see. I wouldn't give up my job; unseen things are happening there every day. I wouldn't give up travels, as discovering new cultures is terrific and widens my horizons. I wouldn't give up learning new things and getting to know new people...
It's not obligatory to be proactive when living your life. Everyone chooses their own path. But other people also have preferences. And I prefer people with insatiable curiosity...
Again, this is not about learning daily. Most people regularly read articles and books and Google stuff they don't know out of "curiosity". (I also see no reason why someone has to do this anyways. Do you think someone's value goes down once they're content with life?)
I'm specifically talking about life goals, dreams, and aspirations.
Ex. A man has the dream of saving enough money to live off grid, travel the world, find love, and start a family. And he eventually achieves all of that. Can't he just be content with where he is?
No one can force him to do anything else, right?
if he is content, then he does nothing more. It's his choice.
Not a man for me.
When he has reached the goals he has for himself.:)
if it ends... then it wasn't a dream, was it?
a true dream, moreso when accomplished should be a lasting one... and it would be fulfilling to you, which is why you call it your dream...
the main goal in my life is happiness, so... that's constant work, and never guaranteed either... not only for myself but for the people in my life too
happiness is also going to come and manifest in different ways too, so yeah... it's not line you go from A to B and that's it, all done and gone...
another thing though, that can make people feel really content is... to be free of debts lmao, and also being able to work on savings instead... but even that, could take a turn sometimes, sure (KnockingOnWoodAMillionTimes)
It doesn't have to end. You could be living the dream at that point. For example... my dreams are to make a custom off grid house, renovate a campervan, write a book, make a successful online business and work remotely, find true love, and start a family.
Once I've achieved all of that, isn't that enough? Isn't it okay to be content at a certain point in your life and just live happily ever after? Even if someone doesn't have as many dreams and aspirations as I do, isn't it okay? Why do they need to have them?
We are always bettering ourselves naturally every day, whether it be learning or developing our character, so I'm not talking about that. I'm talking about dreams and goals.
I genuinely disagree with your "If it ends... then it wasn't a dream." Or maybe I'm misunderstanding you.
yes, you are... misunderstanding...
true dreams do not end, they live on... it's us, that we die, lol
especially those you mentioned last... true love and family, right now... you're also the dream of those before you, so you're still carrying their dreams too
or at least I hope it is your case, and you have not forgotten those before you, in your life... right?
but also yes, you never said dreams would end... so perhaps you're talking about some sort of retirement? that would be good if it happens at some point, sure... and a different way to enjoy life would follow
The purposy of growth, dreams, and goals is to get to a certain destination in life that you deem worthy. And when you get there, why wouldn't you want to remain there? Isn't that the reward?
My thoughts exactly.
Thanks for MHO!
I always give it to people I agree with most... not necessarily to the ones that put in the most effort or detail. Call me biased 😂

A person should always be content with their life as long as they are living a good life. Being content doesn't mean that you stop bettering yourself, it just means you choose Joy no matter where you are at in life. A person should not be trying to better themselves in attempt to chase happiness, but simply to keep them moving and keep them sharp.
I think it's perfectly fine to be content where you are in live, but you can definitely still continue growing whether it's just in general life experience, or knowledge etc.. So basically the best of both worlds.. You don't have to keep chasing goals, but you can still grow til you die.
In life**..
If you are asking this question you are not content yet , it's one of those things you have to experience life on your own!
No one can answer this, people around you judge and have their opinions of what you should do but you have to do what you have to do!
I have seen people retreat and after a couple of years they die. I think you need to be challenged all your life.
If you're not moving forward, you're moving backwards. As long as you are improving yourself and moving forward, you should find some level of contentment
Absolutely. Men should not feel the need to drive themselves to death.
Look up what the hedonic treadmill is. He'll never feel content
Your content when you feel content ha. It's always good though to have some goal for yourself just to keep you learning and open to new things. Doesn't have to be a life changing goal.
