Why does this generation rely on texting or lack of texting to determine how interested someone is in them rather than actually communicating?

Because someone can text you every day, every second and still not be interested, just bored. Just like someone can not be into texting but have deep interest in you but you’re too focused on what they didn’t text or how many times they haven’t replied back while they really want a real conversation with you.

Yo, I definitely know what you mean. Seems like these days so many people get caught up in all the mind games and reading into every little text or Instagram like. It's crazy.

Like you said, just cause someone replies fast doesn't mean they actually care, and just cause someone sucks at texting doesn't mean they ain't into you. People just use phones different, you know?

I try not to stress too much about all that superficial social media stuff. If I like a girl, I'd rather just ask her out face to face so there's no confusion about whether I'minterested or not. None of this "will they text me back" back and forth BS.

Real connections happen talking in person where you can read each other properly. Not through some screen. People should slow their roll a bit and just talk to each other rather than worrying over texts 24/7 like it's their job.

Might be an unpopular opinion these days but I think being straight up and actually conversing is way better than all the decoding every Snapchat someone sends. But that's just me, what do I know haha.

Because it´s the main form of communication. It´s also easier than confront someone while not being sure how you feel. Sitting in front of screen is safe. Meeting a person telling her or him that you´re interested in them and ask them if they want to invest in a relationship is not, it´s a bold move.
The issue is that due to technology and the safe spaces it creates it makes this generation I´m a part of choose the easiest way out and that´s texting/ghosting.

Sure it´s gutless but as far as I can see it the most important value to the modern generation is being comfortable and that´s more important than anything else besides everything that´s easy to get. Comfort and effortlessness are the values of today.

Yesss and I hate the whole “If they really like you, they will make time for you.” Since when was picking up a phone (which is something everyone has by the way, even small kids) to text someone, really considered effort? Texting is the most bare minimal thing you can do when it comes to showing interest. All you have to do is type a few words with some nice emojis and your most recent emojis are saved for you to use again lol. So, even that takes no effort.

It’s like, if they’re interested then they’re interested and if they’re not then they’re just not. How often they do or don’t text you doesn’t change what they genuinely feel.

I got to the point where I disabled messaging on my phone, so people have to actually talk to me. It is a good way to see who your real friends really are.
