+1 yYea I have boundaries and I believe if it's anything that will get me into unwanted trouble, I have the rights to confront my partner on what I would believe will cause trouble cause every partner i date will know that i will break someones face if they wanna play any games, certain styles of clothing can definitely draw more unwanted attention like catcallers, perverts, rapists etc. They all check the box of reasons to break someones face, I'd expect the same back, if something I wear bothers her, she lets me know and I'm not childish enough to make it a big deal, to be fair tho I'm more into classy women anyways or modest? I don't know the word for it.

+1 yWife response: the way a woman dresses is a reflection of her relationship and her respect for her husband. The way a husband acts and treats a woman in public is a reflection of his relationship and his respect for his wife. As such a man should not need to control what his girlfriend/wife wears nor should a woman have to worry about how her boyfriend/husband acts. Fairly simple at least in my culture. My husband's culture seems to not understand that which is probably why he married me over a woman from America

+1 yNo, I would never control what she wears. I might make a suggestion but what she wears is her decision.

+1 yIt depends on what she's wearing. If she's wearing something that looks ridiculous, or turns me off, then yes I would because my girlfriend should be wearing something that turns me on versus something that turns me off because I should be the only one that is exclusive in her life. So she should be the most appealing to me versus anybody else. And it's not controlling. It's personal preferences. I mean I don't like it when women wear slut clothing, and have their boobs are hanging out of their shirt versus in their shirt. Those boobs are mine. If you're dressing like a slut or a hooker, that ain't going to turn me on. And women have their own preferences on what guys like to wear. So, they just don't look at it as controlling. But it's a suggestion. And it's a suggestion that you should take into consideration if you're serious in that relationship. Because if you're doing things that are essentially turning them off, then why is he going to want to be with you? But, if you're with somebody that you're trying to express to them that you're serious, then you should act like you're serious and be the most appealing to that one individual.
But, looking at it as controlling is a very immature way of looking at it. Basically what that means is you're not fit for a relationship because you are not willing to compromise. Because, you are not supposed to be dressing for you unless you're going out by yourself. And you should not be dressing to appeal to anybody else other than who you're in a relationship with. And believe me I've seen women wear some pretty ridiculous stuff. Like high heels for instance. And there is hundreds of other things that can make a woman look ridiculous. Really if it has anything to do with the fashion world, it all looks ridiculous. And, if you're not willing to do anything about looking the most appealing to the most important person in your life, then you're not serious.10 Reply- 2.8K opinions shared on Dating topic.
+1 y"Control"
Nice buzz word you used there.
I had the freedom to choose who I wanted to be with and who I wouldn't commit to.
I wouldn't have committed to or I would have taken back my commitment and ended things with any woman who chose to dress sexually provocatively.
No one can control anyone. She controls what she wears, he controls if he will commit or stay committed. Both are true at the same time.
More than just the fact I don't want my girl showing off too much of her body and intimate bits for other guys to get to see her mindset would play a role in my attraction to her. Is she longing to dress provocatively? Her heart is yearning to show off skin and get men sexually notice her body and give her attention?
I'd don't think I'd want to be with someone who values this to where she is wanting to do this.
Yea, so to sum up, if she dresses too provocatively and shows off too much leg, chest, stomach, butt and always wants to dress in this way I would just move on.

+1 yNo. I'm an INTP that highly valued freedom of choice. It also means I'm not really for leading people... or following them. I just do my own thing and hope people have similar mindsets.
While I wouldn't ever tell a girl what to wear, I probably wouldn't date a girl that shows off half her ass and shows a ton of cleavage. I'm also not a fan of excessive makeup and fake stuff like nails, lips, booty, boobs, etc.
Like this girl... I would never date a girl like this
20 Reply This is a loaded question and the answer isn't so clear cut. What are you calling "control"? I would definitely have boundaries. I'm not going to literally make her wear a specific thing, but I would expect her to respect me enough to dress appropriately in public. It would be completely her choice not to, but at the same time It would be my choice if I wanted to continue my relationship with her.
Of course, there is no need to argue or get loud or mean with her or anything, but it should be perfectly fine to respectfully let her know that I wasn't ok with what she was wearing. The big key here is to be consistent with my standards.11 Reply- +1 y
yeah i understand. i used word control just because some men really control their girlfriend. but having standards and not wanting a girlfriend to wear reveal clothes i 100% agree. and if i had a boyfriend i wouldn’t even want to dress more revealingly cuz i wouldn’t want other men to look at me as my boyfriend would be enough
- 1.2K opinions shared on Dating topic.
+1 yI would never do that. BUT... there is an explanation behind it.
I would NOT want my girl to wear clothes that I thought were too revealing. She doesn't have to dress like a Muslim woman, not even close. But there is a line that she could cross that would be unacceptably revealing in my view because it would feel disrespectful to me. I mean how would a woman feel if I went out in public in nothing but a thong?
However, this would never happen because I have never been and would never be with a woman who would consider something like that in the first place. So it is only theoretical.

+1 yNo but I'll remind her that actions have consequences. If you are going out wearing something out of a Cardi B / little Kim video then don't be shocked when you get treated like you're in one. Oh you're going out with "just a friend from work" wearing a see-through top and F me boots? Would you like your stuff in boxes or bags when you return?

+1 yI might suggest or request something, but I wouldn't outright veto or mandate anything unless it posed a direct danger; if we're going to a recycling center, she's WEARING non-slip shoes, for example.
It was actually complications from an argument on an incredibly stupid similar issue that ended my last relationship, so I'd be very upfront that with exceptions at the edges, she's free to wear whatever the hell she wants.

If she liked the idea of me picking out her clothes for her I'd be more than happy to, but I haven't found myself in the position so far.22 Reply- +1 y

+1 yI have when they wanted me too. I don't really mind what she's wearing. I'm not going to let her straight up embarrass herself and neither would any quality woman let her man embarrass themself.
But if I feel the need to tell you what to wear constantly and it's not seen as a sort of sexual game for fun or it's always causing problems, why would you date someone who stresses you out that much in the first place?
10 Reply 13.4K opinions shared on Dating topic. If she's into being told what to wear, then I would enjoy that. But I'm not going to presume to tell her what she can and can't wear. It's not a deal breaker. I was out last Sunday and by far the most beautiful woman on the floor was in a long-sleeved tee and cargo pants. There were other women in leather pants and sequined low-cut tops but none of them came close.

+1 yI like the woman I'm with to dress nice, sexy... Other men will always look so that doesn't bother me. If she dresses sexy as long as the situation is appropriate, so if she was going to see my parents in a micro mini skirt I'd ask her to please put on something more appropriate but many girls know this so you wouldn't even have to say anything.

+1 yIf she is with me she can wear what she wants within reason. If she not going to be with me I definitely have the final say over what she wears but in practice I have never had to exercise this authority because my wife has no desire to dress like a whore.

+1 yThe thing I don't get is why guys go out with girls who dress very revealing and posting body pics but then later want to tell them not to dress like that. Why even date her if you don't like her style?

+1 yMy boyfriend will ask if I can wear certain stuff. Hell also let me know if he's uncomfortable with anything. But under no circumstance is he to assume any type of control over my attire.

I don't know some guys are contolling. but i was just curious about what u think. as i was curious about would u be okay with dating an OF model and i asked couple moths ago
- +1 y
Yes I would date an OF model. She’s not working full time is she?
- +1 y
Most OF models work for five years at the most. Then they find another job
- +1 y
well I don't know im not informed about that industry much. imnot even interested in it and i would never do it. cuz in my opinion showing naked photos or videos isn not worth the money. money isn’t everything
- +1 y
Yes money isn’t everything. As you don’t know much, I’ll let you know many successful OF models don’t do nudes. I’ve seen them on the whatever podcast and they said they don’t have to strip
- +1 y
well yeah. but they are still OF models. but tbh i don’t care about them. if they’re happy with what they’re doing i don’t care. but i’m just saying that i would never done sth like that
- +1 y
Great then we agree. Cus I wouldn’t do OF either. But if they can make money that’s capitalism
- +1 y
well yeah it is. selling nudes or stripping is easy money. but then you don’t have this privacy anymore I don't know how to explain eat.

i gotta go now but thanks for debating @BarryLiverstone !

You are welcome. I had no idea I was in a debate
If they don't dress reasonable, then I wouldn't date them to begin with. If they radically shift their behavior one day then I'd just dump them because they are most likely mentally unstable.
