Would you let your boyfriend control what you wear?

Okay so I have a Facebook and we have group yard sale pages for my area and I was selling some clothes. One of the things I was selling was a cropped hoodie and a girl messaged me and it happened to be my ex’s new girlfriend. I don’t have a problem with her at all, but she wanted to buy it from me and she ended up telling me she couldn’t because her boyfriend said it was “too short” so she couldn’t buy it when it was her money she was using. She may not have realized that it was me that she was wanting to buy from. Although, this just irritates me so bad because to me that’s ridiculous & that’s why I dumped him because he tries to control other people. Would you let your boyfriend control what you wear or I guess buy in this scenario?

If it's too short, it's too short. I agree with him. She doesn't have to listen to him, especially when he isn't her husband. But she will lose him as a boyfriend. That's not being controlling. That's safeguarding your relationship. You said he was irritating, so don't worry about what goes on his life with her. As long as she is happy with him, move on and find somebody who doesn't care what you wear. I just think you need to cut this off with her if he's going to forever irk your nerves.

I’ve moved on and I’ve been with someone for over a year. I just posted this question to see if other people would allow their partner to do the same. I don’t even talk to her, the only time I have is when she has messaged me wanting to buy something off me.

Well for you to be so bothered by it says a lot. You have to remember that not everybody shares your values and standards no different than anybody shares my standards or values. As a Christian woman and somebody who shares mostly Traditional Values, naturally I opposed to it. But if other women want to do that, they can do what they want. But I would not be surprised that they will lose the men that they claim they want to keep. Now if they only with you because they lusted after you anyway then technically that is not your problem. What matters is that you're not with a hypocrite.

Definitely not. He knew what I dressed like before he started dating me so he shouldn’t date me if it’s that big of an issue for him. I don’t mind if he suggests certain outfits but I wouldn’t give up something I like or wear something I don’t like because he asked me to.

I think there is a difference between controlling and giving opinion.

from the above i could say that the guy only gave her his opinion that its too short and she should not buy it. its still "her" decision. she could have still gone with buying it, but i think she did not coz "she" changed her mind.

I would take my partners opinion on board and try to make myself look good for them, but I would never take a direct order unless I agreed with it
