Why did the guy I’m newly dating ask if my ex ever proposed to me?

I’ve been dating a new guy the last 3 months. Tonight he randomly asked me if my ex ever proposed to me. It was so random. What would make a guy think to ask something like that?

I wouldn't read too much into it. He's probably just curious about your past relationship history since you're dating now. Us guys do dumb shit like ask random questions sometimes when we don't really mean anything by it.

A few possibilities for why he asked:

- Wanted to know if you were previously in a super serious committed relationship type situation.

- Making conversation and that popped into his head for some reason.

- Lowkey trying to figure out if you're still hung up on an ex or ready to fully move on.

- Might have marriage/long term commitment on his mind and was gauging your openness to that down the line.

I wouldn't overthink it unless he starts like interrogating you a lot about an ex. He's probably just getting to know you better. As long as he's not still talking to you about an ex all the time, I'm sure it was harmless. Wouldn't stress it too much sis.
