Why do beauty standards change when we go from one decade to the next?

As a teenager, I thought Tori Spelling was a 1 out of 10 and Jennie Garth a 10 out of 10 in 91210.

As an adult, I think Tori Spelling looked better in 91210 than Jennie Garth.

I also do not find the guys on the show to be even remotely good looking and as a child I thought all of them were 8 out of 10 or 10 out of 10.

As a child we see things through a simple lens and as we get older what we experience changes how we see the world. As grown-ups we are conditioned to accept social norms.
