Why has the bar dropped in terms of standards of beauty for women?

Back in the day if a woman wasn’t any shorter than 5’3 or any taller than 5’7 it was unattractive. Either it was too tall and too manly or not tall enough. It was probably better to be ‘not tall enough’ than too tall.

Women who didn’t look like Marilyn with a heart shaped or oval shaped face, women who didn’t have big almond shaped eyes, women who didn’t have perfectly straight teeth of the perfect size and perfect bite (non protruding) and women who didn’t have small chins and jaws and weren’t dainty overall weren’t considered beautiful.

Women who didn’t have thick hair and hourglass bodies with a tiny waist and a full bust with wide hips were considered manly and unattractive.

Why has the bar dropped so much? Now people are finding manly things attractive? What direction are we going in? Society is becoming crazy and standards have dropped like crazy.

LOL! Don't believe the hype! There are morons out there trying to convince you that "real" or "average" looking women are the beauty ideal. That overweight, cellulite ridden wrecks like Ashley Graham are the hottest things in the world. It's all bullshit. They may have taken over one-great institutions like the sports illustrated swimsuit issue but no one looks at that anymore. Have a look at the top earners on OnlyFans and you'll see that the standard for female beauty is still quite high. What turns us on and gets us jacking is still what you'd expect. Fit, thin waist, nice hips, sculpted butt and big, firm natural boobs.

That's a blessing in disguise if that's how you truly feel. Now you can now work more on being a better person (chasing excellence) and not feel like you're ahead simply because of your looks. Your looks will fade over time to some degree even if you take really good care of yourself. It's not reliable over time. Besides, no guys going to want to stay with a very attractive woman over time if he doesn't like her personality.

One of the most beautiful women I know is 6' tall, very feminine curves, but what makes her truly beautiful is her heart matches her looks. In fact it more than matches.

Literally very few fit the description you say and period photos don't suggest that as strictly the style. On average men and women are 4 -5 in different in height. So tall man + tall women. That happens globally, but some short women want taller men and shorter men want taller women. Granted the prior is more common, but even in the tallest countries women are taller as well. 4 -5 inches is comfortable and the statistical norm.

What "day" are you talking about? I don't think it was ever like you think it was, with your long years of experience at 22. Perhaps it is because years ago looks were of paramount consideration in hiring for not just actresses and models, but flight attendants, receptionists, waitresses, etc. Doing so now would invite a lawsuit, or at least public shaming.

A lot of feminine beauty standards are imposed by other women. I'm sure most of the reason the standards have dropped is because women realized that the old standards were practically killing people.

The standards that women were striving to meet were just unrealistic for the vast majority of women. They just weren't going to be able to reach the perfect measurements, skin tone, fashion, etc... naturally. I've even heard of women having toes surgically removed to fit into high heels and stuff. You can be absolutely gorgeous without eliminating every once of unnecessary fat, for example.

But those are cultural things like feet binding. That isn’t included in classic beauty. Classic beauties are Marylin and Aishwarya however these days people are satisfied by the likes of Kim who is far from classic beauty and has big facial bones.

I think where we disagree is I think the standards have expanded, not lowered. You know how there's more than one kind of food that tastes really good? Like ribs are pretty good but there's also banana cream pie. And a really good banana cream pie tastes way better than a rotten banana, even though if you want ribs it's not ribs. So people still find that traditional beauty beautiful, and ugly people ugly, but they're recognizing that there are other foods that taste pretty good too besides ribs.
