Is the age gap weird?

I like this boy and he's 16 but I'm 17. I'll turn 18 for like 6 months before he's 17; l'm not really a fan of age gaps and I kinda feel weird about me turning 18 and him still begin a minor. Really the fact of liking somebody younger than me period. I just keep thinking in my head I'm graduating and he'll still be in high school Should I still go for it? like am I just overacting? I feel like I should wait until he’s 17 to make a move because that’s the age of consent in my state.

You should go for it. Proceed with caution. You’re close enough to his age. I think you should make a move. Go on a date if he says yes. See if you like him more or if it feels too weird.

That is really what the early stages of dating even are. Get to know someone. See if you really like them… or if it feels too weird for you.

You are way overthinking this.
Here is something to over think on. In the U. S. women out live men by 5.8 years. So to die near the same time you should be dating a child about 12 years old. Obviously I’m joking. A girl being a few months younger or older isn’t an issue at your age. It becomes less of an issue the older you get. Stop over thinking and go enjoy life (safely).

Even a judge wouldn’t look at you as a predator for dating that individual because you’re so close in age that there really no gap from an older person’s perspective. You guys are teens so you guys get like a year grace period of being “same aged” low key. Me on the other hand, at 30, I would consider 3 year gap plus or minus is the “same age for me.

Age of consent only comes into play if you become intimate, and most states (not all, so check) have close-in-age exceptions so 18 and 16-1/2 might be perfectly fine legally where you live.
