The icks in dating?

Anonymous

Often, someone is said to get "the ick" when they are suddenly repulsed by a person they once were attracted to. The ick is typically used to describe a sudden feeling of disgust that seems to come out of nowhere.

It happened to me couple of times before, and unfortunatelly it happened again now. I've been talking to this guy for 2 weeks, we have a date scheduled on Saturday. We matched on dating app and only seen many real time photos of each other. On photos he looks good, not the hottest dude ever but good enough for me, especially the fact that he has a long hair that absolutely love in a man! He is smart, funny, emotionally mature and very into me, just perfect. I was looking forward to Saturday! But then he sent me another photo of himself where he didn't put his hair in a bun, and for some reason I really disliked his hair like that. He looks like Snape from Harry Potter, his hair is so greasy and thick and damaged, if I was him I'd cut it short (even though it looks nice in a bun).

I don't know how to best explain the ick, but I was starring at that photo cirnging, and now I'm turned off by him, completely. I know it is unrealistic, and I can deal just fine with icks while already in a relationship, but getting an ick even before anything started is very, very bad. It's just a point of no return, you can't unsee it.

I think I'm gonna give a date a shot and then see, but my interest has definitily fallen to the lowest and I'm already swipping back on the app.
