I've always seen how this goes... I don't have specific pre-planned dates or places or anything like that because, everyone is different and many people are into different things as well

no first date of mine has been at a coffee place nor dinner... they're always on the go, and it is about how we feel like doing at the moment, or how much we want to go out and to be together... so it is not about the place, but us... and then, we might think of anything as an excuse... lol

so, it's been the movies... it's been walks outside in the middle of the night and really going nowhere... it's been cooking at her place, cooking at my place too

or... dinner at her parent's house, yes, lmao...

It depends on the prior relationship. When I was meeting women from online dating sites, the first date was coffee or something similar -- you never know how it's going to go, and you don't want to be committed for two hours. If I were going on a first date with a woman I was acquainted with, then dinner would be appropriate.

If she wasn't so into very thrilling dates like this, there's nice little mountains here in Japan (not an exhausting hike) where we can have a picnic at the top of the mountain. I can even bring some dishes I cooked; if she's into cooking, maybe we can both bring things we cooked and eat that together. I prefer that over coffee date or dinner date.

I'm thoroughly allergic to coffee dates but maybe because I never tried online dating or blind dates in general. All the women I dated were women I already knew somewhat well as an acquaintance if not an actual friend already. So I didn't date women to "get to know them"; we already knew each other. Therefore I always wanted a first date to be quite exciting and adventurous and romantic, not some casual little chat over a coffee table.

Coffee date does make more sense to me if I barely know the woman or never met her in person first. The idea still doesn't appeal to me though; I'd rather we hang out together as potential friends first in that case before dating and maybe together with our mutual groups of friends. Then if we click, go on our first date (which then wouldn't be a coffee date).

Coffee. If it doesn't go well you can be done in 20 minutes. If it goes well, you can stay for a couple hours. Plus, if you have a couple first dates lined up in a week it can get a little expensive

My son goes to coffee shops on a first date. I said he should go to a nice restaurant but he disagrees. I would identify someone I really liked and tale her to somewhere nice so it is a good start and it separates me from all the guys who would go to a coffee shop. This would then help me separate her from her panties :D. But I understand that some women date just for a free dinner but so what, its a few bucks and hopefully at least a good time.

From my POV, a 'coffee' date is not a 'date - per-se". I enjoy going out to a nice place ANYTIME, not just on a date. I like taking a DATE to Pelican HIll Resort, or The Rusty Pelican, or maybe The Spaghetti Bender

Coffee date is better since it's low pressure, inexpensive, and if there isn't a connection can be done in <30 minutes without it being awkward. I'd only really have a dinner date as a first date with a girl if I knew her well beforehand, or that seemed to be her preference and I liked her a lot.

Coffee date, in public like a big shop or a big cafe. it's too cringey to go somewhere isolating and not in public :) ☕ and dinner is way too quick to go from 0 to 100 lol

I'd rather go to a coffee date. I think it's a lot less pressure and is a nice and relaxed atmosphere in which to get to know each other and see if there might be something there worth exploring.
