How can some people choose a career, a job, or any course of action, and go all in, without thinking of all the other options I could have?

I know this happens for some men in relationships with women, and they can't commit because they think of all the other women they could date. I date only one woman. But I have this problem professionally. I can't commit to a job or a career path.

Boy, I'm the same... There's too many things I'd like to do and too little things I see myself commiting to fully, for the rest of my life.

To a certain extent, it's good and sensible to consider your options and make comparisons. Overthinking, on the other hand, results in situations like these lol.

I guess some people just take a dive into whatever appeals to them the most at the time, without putting too much thought into it. It just doesn't come naturally to everyone.

I see that you're pretty young, and I think a lot of people fail to find Their Thing even up to their late twenties. Remember that you have time and it's okay to try different things, get other jobs, looking for yourself in different places. Someday you'll find the right path for you, and if not - you'll know all sorts of things lol.

I know it's not exactly preferable to be a jack of all trades in today's world, but we're also not stuck in a "WORK FOR THE SAME COMPANY FOR MY WHOLE LIFE" type of mindset that our grandparents and parents often possess.

I was really interested in a few fields, but because of private stuff, only two directions were really available for me. So, I studied both, and during my studies, I have chosen my path... I'm mega happy with my career, job, and achievements.

But the primary criterion was what was interesting for me. And then what would make me earn money. Fortunately, both directions - computer science and psychology are good for making money.

Thats only an issue for people who don't know what they want or are afrsid of time.

My view is that I know what I want, and I do have the time to do/obtain all of it, even though its way more than most people set as goals.

You use the wird commit wrong when it comes to a career path, if you like multiple careers, do them all. Think you can't? Try anyway.

As someone, who thinks outside the box, the concept of seeing "only one" option is not fathomable to me. The only exception is when I fled from my toxic and abusive family and a dictatorship infested shithole region. There it was choosing either survival and running away or to perish.

As I see it there is at most a 10% chance of something vaguely resembling success and the other 90% is just failing and fading away.
How can some people commit instantly? Easy. The alternative is to die in a cardboard box on the roadside.

You weigh up the options, check out career structure, qualifications needed now and any linked to career progression and just go for it. Having focus helps.

Lots of people can’t, that’s why we try different things and see what fits. Pretty much everyone I know that were dead set on a part straight outta highschool ended up hating it and changed later anyway
