Do most people stick to their own race when it comes to dating?

It looks to me, that most people stick to their own race, when dating.

In my case I do not mind dating any woman from other race...

Statistically yes. But I think it’s more of a cultural reason why than “race”.

The majority of people tend to date within their own race because it is familiar. It also depends on how diverse the area you live in is. I personally don’t see race as being too important of a determining factor whenever it comes to dating/marriage so long as our values align and we bring out the best in each other. That said I live in a predominantly white area with black being the second biggest ethnicity. My boyfriend is Asian, if he wanted to date Asian women he would have a really hard time where for me the majority of my options were the same ethnicity as me

I didn't at all but maybe because I lack that concept of own race being half-white and half-Asian. My very first serious girlfriend was a black American and classmate in my university.

I never understood why race should matter so much in any social context. I can understand why culture and values could matter deeply (that was a challenge for me dating some women of cultures very different from my own), but I don't think see culture and race as the same thing whatsoever, as a Scottish and Russian might share the same race but differ quite a bit in culture, and same between a Nigerian and a Jamaican, and between a Vietnamese and Japanese, and so forth, and there's still wild variation even within one of those groups that I mostly just arrive at unique individuals at the end of the day.

For example, I once dated a white Japanese. She was of French ancestry but born and raised in Japan. To me and the rest of us, she was as Japanese as anyone else despite being white, speaking the most fluent Japanese, sharing Japanese social customs and values towards marriage and family, etc.

I can see the desire for cultural purists to avoid mixing cultures. For example, I do want for us in Japan to maintain our cultural way of life and not mix it all away. Yet I don't understand racial purists. Why should it matter whether a Japanese person is white, black, Hispanic, Asian, or something else in terms of appearance as long as they share the same cultural values?

That is something I have struggled with though in life being biracial. Japanese tend to call me American being half-white and Americans tend to call me Japanese being half-Asian. Yet I consider myself Japanese first and foremost from a cultural perspective. I've been Americanized a bit as well having spent many years in the US, yet I would teach my children the Japanese way first and foremost.

Like this. This man is half-black but he is as Japanese as anyone else. He speaks perfectly fluent Japanese, shares Japanese mannerisms, cultural customs, to me he is Japanese even though he is half-black.

To each their own in terms of dating and relationships.
Me personally, I dated a lot of other races before my own simply because I knew I can. The only reason why my partner is from the same background as me is by sheer chance we bumped into each other.

i think that highly depends on the racial mix of the area. like if there's nobody of any other race there to date, obviously people will stick with their own race. that's the case for me personally. like there are "some" other races where i live but it's very few.

many people grow up in homogeneous neighborhoods, so they are around and familiar with their own races.

Also, people tend to be attracted to people who resemble them. Northern Europeans attracted to other northern Europeans. Indians attracted to other Indians, for example.

Of course there are many examples of people of different races being attracted to each other and the more diverse a society becomes, the more diverse the dating pool will probably be
