They don't. Most people usually date within their own culture. Different cultures have different standards for beauty. In Mauritania, obese women are considered to be beautiful.

The term fetish is kind of subjective. If in a culture it is quite normal to desire overweight women, wouldn't the obsession with thin women be the fetish?
This is an exaple of the weirdness at GaG, even as it is an international forum, we kind of bounce back and forth between two extremes.
There are folks who make the claim there is one universal standard for beauty while simultaneously claiming that people should only date within their race.
u I prefer my own race because I am more attracted to Caucasian women, it is comfortable for me, and I have more in common with Caucasian women. I have dated women from Asia, India, and South America. My current girlfriend is 1/4 American Indian and it is very evident in her appearance.
And Pocahontas is about 0.02% native American.
Honestly, I think it's a number of factors.
1) Their race is all they're around.
2) They're socially conditioned into thinking a certain race (mostly their own) is more attractive.
3) Racism.
4) Important cultural aspects in which they are taught that they must date an upstanding member of their own race.
5) Etc.
I prefer to date someone that is cultured, open minded, adventurous, and one's particular skin color doesn't affect this. Of course there will be cultural lifestyle changes when dating outside my own ETHNICITY.. but per aforementioned if a person is open minded and willing to adjust (goes both ways) then itll work out

Because there is usually a greater comfort level and you don't have to deal with disapproval by family members on the basis of race. For some, physical attraction plays a role as well.
My kids are mixed. So disapproval is in the air no matter what. It is a possiblity that no matter white nor black nor hispanic someone may have a problem. Not to mention I have 4 kids. So I am not ushly their mommas favorite anyway.
For different reasons really.. I think part of the reason is comfort and familiarity.. Society has ingrained into us that "race" is a biological concept rather than the fact that people selectively breed for centuries possibly millenniums.. Although at one point or another every culture has crossed each other.. And cause most people ain't around that many people of different "races" even if they occupy the same city, or space.. Most people still don't mix together, and "interracial" relationships are still not that normal especially in certain areas..

These genes make for different physical appearance, different behavioral patterns, different physical advantages etc.
a Chihuahua and a wolf are the same specie, yet they are completely different animals.
The same is true for the races of Man.

Yeah I don't get that part either. My best guess is that it's just something people grow up with. I have never been like that. I can find any race and nationality of women attractive. That to me is like limiting yourself to one type of candy for the rest of your life. If you wanna eat Skittles or Eminems for the rest of your life be my guest, not me though.
I do find people of my own race the most attractive, but the main reason I prefer to date my own race is cultural values.
It is essential for my partner to match me in cultural background, I'm not really interested in other cultures and other people's ways of life being parts of my life.
It isn’t race per say, although that is what you are.
It is about CULTURE!
Most people of the same race, will have higher odds, of having a similar life experience & similar life perspective.
It is easy to understand why someone would think, that a partner of the same race or ethnic background, would better understand said person... and be more synced with cultural aspects such as how to raise kids & how to conduct oneself in everyday life.
Meh I don't think it's your race necessarily note that is what you see growing up. at least in my case. I'm mixed but since I've grown up surrounded by exclusively Caucasians Caucasian women are the only ones who interest me. That and I have a hard on for blue eyes.
I think we're more comfortable associating with people who resemble the ones we grew up with. Obviously there are exceptions, though. Personally I seek out people who have similar interests and personality traits, so race isn't a big deal to me.

I'm a dark skinned fellow. Black to be exact. And I'm dating a Caucasian girl. I've preferred white women due to where I grew up. Its not because of sex (I'm a virgin, haven't had time to meet girls until now). Its more do their eyes (blue eyes). I feel like I'm staring into an ocean. Unusual things outside of my image often captivate me. My first girlfriend was a korean girl. But thats just me.
I love all races. Because my family was my race, her being the same one might make her feel more... “familiar”? I’m not sure how accurate that word is. But like I said, I love all races.

Same for personality. I love having some things in common, but also having some interesting differences. Opposites really can attract sometimes.

Because of biology. Civic nationalists and globalists will never tell you this but races evolved thousands of miles apart in very different climates. They evolved to live together, to form families and exist as a racial group. That's why we have distinct races. When you race mix you're asking for trouble.

It's simply the natural order of things. Most people are drawn to those with whom they share an ethnic and cultural affinity. And there's nothing wrong with that.
I grew up around people within my own race, because, they would understand where I came from and my roots/heritage. I have been attracted to someone outside my own race before but it only failed as they chose the same thing for themselves.

Comfort, familiarity, social approval. I know that no one like to admit this, but western society only got to a place of acknowledging that people of all races ought to have the same rights, in the last hundred-ish years.
It's a horrible idea to date inside your own race. You should get the Indie 500, while she should get F-1 Formula. This way, you aren't directly competing for the trophy, which may otherwise put a strain on the relationship.
Race is just a politically correct way of saying sub-species. It's not just humans, animals do too.
We are genetically similar @JDavid25 but each descend has some differences, for example some Africans have longer muscles in their legs, allowing more speed but at the cost of strength in their legs, while europeans have bigger but shorter muscles I don't know what the muscle is called but ours allow for more strength over the cost of speed, for evolutionary reasons.
There's lots of differences between the races. Yes there are many similarities, we are the same species after all, but we are clearly different enough for science to classify us differently.
@Gopnik Speed in the legs, and muscles have more to do with how we each adapted to our environment, and breeded selectively.. But that has little to do wit DNA.. Genetically we are not very different at all.. It's similar to how I have different body type than my 2 brothers, or different eye colors.. Just like how Pale and Dark skinned people suffer in different ways in different environments.. Has little to do wit genetics, and more to do wit the fact that they have different shades of melanin..
@purplepoppy There was no science behind the classification of humans races.. It was a way to build a hierarchy.. And now for some reason, some scientist still wanna hang on to the notion of biological race.. And find ways in which we have differences..

I don't know. Everyone has their preference. It could be cultural similarities, but then someone of a different race could have a more similar cultural background than someone in your own. I have been interested in a wide range.

Im dating a Caucasian girl. (I'm a black guy). I noticed her eyes were almost an icy blue color, which made me think about the waters of bora bora.

Because all diversity usually means is anti White. I've never heard of the TV shows that have almost all Black characters being told they need more diversity. @Hiopdtgy I don't know that it is really what I consciously prefer, but I always seem to go for Indian girls. Like I might not have any idea what her background is, or I will just assume that she is white, but then she turns out to be indian or middle eastern.
