What does official mean in dating? If he says we are official, what does it mean? We are in a romantic relationship?

It's that point where we're sure enough about our feelings to say, "This is my boyfriend" or "This is my girlfriend" when we talk about each other to friends and family.

For me, dating IS exclusivity, faithfulness and respect. If I have a doubt when we start dating, I prefer break up before suffering. I don't want to waste my time for a cad who can’t control his sexual drive.

What it means now is the stage most reached on the first date before the idiots ruined relationships thinking they were being clever. It means you 2 are exclusive. A point that men and women used to reach when the man asked the woman out on the first date. Makes sense why relationships are so messed up now. Assigning exclusivity weeks or months after the first date despite your now "exclusive" boyfriend or girlfriend was cheating on you for weeks or months all because you don't have exclusivity from the get go

I’d ask him because there’s a lot of room for ambiguity if you’re looking for a hard definition. Otherwise I’d take it as a lighthearted declaration that he likes what he sees in you and is making a entry-level commitment to being exclusive with you.
