My friend jokes about stealing the guys I date. Should I tell her this is not on?

Why is my friend going after guys I’m involved with?

So my friend is currently dating a guy I used to talk to. They’re exclusive but I didn’t deep it too much because I am over him. But recently, I got involved with a new guy and things are going really well. My friend asked to see a picture of him and said “don’t worry I won’t steal your man again JOKE” and “he’s so hot can I have him instead JOKE.” She said she was just joking about with me and he’s not her type but why would she say these things?

I then found out she followed my new man on Instagram. She has never talked to him in real life before. She also ‘conveniently’ posted a thirst trap on her story around the time she added him. Is this weird? She said she added him to “have things to talk about with him when she meets him at my party.”

Should I tell her this is not on? She’s a good friend in other ways, it just seems she likes to go after guys who like me.

You have to ask her why she is doing this. We can only speculate. Talk to her about this and tell her how it's not funny and that you'd like her to respect your friendship more. This will deal with your issue directly head on. For me to say what she's thinking or why she's doing it would be guessing. Talk to her and find out. Good luck. I hope things get better.

I don't trust her though. I think she's doing this on purpose and then jokes to have plausible deniability when I confront her about it, so that people don't see her in a bad light.

Interesting. This sounds like she's just not a good friend to keep possibly. If you're not trusting her that might be a good follow up conversation. I'd be thoughtful if the words you say to describe that to her but if you have a past experience with her where she broke trust with you that's a good starting point. It could sound like this is making me uncomfortable because although you say you're rooting for us, it looks like this, and I feel like that because of the time... insert trust broken example.

I don't think you should take it to heart when she says this, but I think you need to learn how to put her in her PLACE.. For example.. you could respond with.. "Sure, you can have him when I've finished with him!"
