Advice on my date's behaviour, should I go for a third date?

So I've been out with this guy a couple of times altho he's nice, his behaviour surprises me. For context, I'm mindful of a guy's time and money so unless I feel a mutual strong connection, I typically only suggest going out for coffee on the first date (I decline their offer to go to fancy restaurants and suggest coffee instead).

So I went on a first date with this guy, he was shy, and kinda inexperienced with dating but it went well. On the second date, he paid but I suggested that I'd either cover him on the next date or pay back my half. He said I could just pay him back my half so I paid the $12, but he got back to me saying it was actually $13.20. I was shocked, he's interested and wants to meet me again, but seriously? Being petty coz I accidentally underpaid him by a dollar?

I don't know if I should say yes to a 3rd date or just leave it here? He is a perfectionist and I honestly would've even been fine to pay for the date myself, but him being petty over a $1 is just ridiculous.

Yes, that does seem quite OTT of him (I agree). Though perhaps he considered it to be what you would have wanted. I do know I've had dates in the past where the girl has felt very strongly about, what to me, are odd things (examples are "Not Holding Doors for her", "Her insisting on paying her own way" (and if I was ever inexact she saw it as some kind of 'stealth' gratuity) and "Lateness determining how she saw my levels of interest"). Though, I sort of get each of those [on one level] they definitely felt like someones whom I was less inclined to see as 'future material' (due to the consideration of what they might be like to live with, always seeing small stuff I did as somekind of indicater of other things). So I sympathise your asking here.

However, also because of those experiences, I'd say, "roll with it and see"; If it becomes a pattern with him then bow out of subsequent dates (or possibly if he's really your ideal, or you want to give him a bigger chance, let him know you found it odd and why and see if he's like "oh I thought you'd want that" then you can both laugh about it and it might become a 'origin story' for your getting together :)).

That does weird honestly you are right that isn't enough to make a fuss about that much but was he serious or just jk around about it? If he as serious that is completely ridiculous. I personally have paid for the first date and told you not to worry about paying me back at all.

I think your overreacting about one dollar, If you think it's a deal breaker then it's a deal breaker, But if you keep rejecting Guys for little things like that your going to find dating hard and Boring.
