What are some of your pet peeves on a first date?

The “buy the lobster” people.


First dates should be light and friendly — a coffee or cocktail and something light. It should reflect the nature of the discussions also — keep things light.


And have good manners.


But too often one of my friends tells me about a first date where the person they’re with is rude to the waiter or staff, orders something that takes forever to prepare and consume… it keeps you “trapped” in the moment with someone you don’t know and perhaps don’t want to spend too much time with.


If you like each other after a light friendly first date there’s this magical thing called (drumroll) the second date….

When it's someone I met through the personals and she inevitably orders the most expensive entree on the menu, often without even knowing what it is.
