I think it's safe to say that most men have had thoughts about sleeping with their female friends, at least the ones they find attractive. That being said, any mature man is more than capable of keeping those occasional thoughts to himself, and maintaining a respectful friendship with a woman.

The bible doesn't say men and women can't be friends. It says we should avoid the dangers of temptation and because of this many people won't be alone with a member of the opposite sex. Plenty of people have friends of the opposite gender and only hang out with them in group settings. The bible doesn't prohibit this.

Humans are animals, with built in instincts, but have a brain that can control behavior based on those instincts. Yes, the basic instinct of males is to mate with women. Yes, there are men who lack self control, but not all men are the same. And just because something is natural doesn't mean it's good and that we shouldn't decide to be better.

Teaching kids to avoid the opposite gender only grows adults who don't know how to behave or interact with others.

Yeah, quite easily. I've only wanted to have sex with two of my friends, one is my girlfriend now. The thing is, I don't make friends based on appearance at all. If we have shared interests, we can be friends. So since physical appearance doesn't enter into it, an attractive girl with similar interests is just random.

I've had women try to exploit our friendship for her own personal gratification. When that happens I have to end the friendship. There's a clear line, a boundary that the other gender isn't allowed to cross. And as a friend you shouldn't want to.
