Guys, what are struggles you experienced in dating?

In dating apps: As a man you can get hooked on believing there are more potentially interested women if you subscribe and you end up paying ridiculous amount to be able to swipe more or text more individuals. Once connected, its a roller coaster of emotions, irritation and upsetness. Most swipes are with individuals who seems shallow, have kids, who doesn't bother to respond despite connecting.

Long distance: I personally couldn't handle it when life was full of activities and excitement. I had three long distance relationships and neither worked. Time zones was the biggest issue followed with unexpected change of plans on your days off cause you didn't want to be stuck home alone prioritizing the girlfriend.

Note: I met my wife through long-distance but it was midst of the pandemic, she was stuck in quarantine and I was in a warzone stuck in a compound.

General life: I struggled with self-confidence of not being good looking, good enough and smart enough. This led to being socially non-responsive, very quiet and not fitting in any group setting. This led also to me questioning my sexuality and having unlimited encounters to receive some kind of fulfillment. Eventually my lack of confidence improved a lot but then I begun portraying myself as liberal individual with rebellious past just to justify my large number of encounters. I struggled to be honest with people. Eventually though I overcame my self-confidence issues and my personality also transformed into becoming very liberal with liberal and open minded mindset. I was okay with talking about my past and being honest.

Once the self-confidence improved a lot and I begun dating, I was determined not to settle before the age of 30 and that played a significant role in how I went about in the relationships. Also coming from a religious family with wanting to know your every move the relationships struggled to large extend.

Today though, married and no self-confidence issues. Still have a very liberal mindset. And contrary to how one would ordinarily get into a relationship, we went through 1000s of questions between heaven and earth and found the compatibility on so many levels that after couple of weeks, I knew she was the one!

When I was a young man, I struggled with thinking I was not good enough, or mature enough, for women, because I was two years younger than my classmates. I eventuall overcame my lack of confidence and dated quite a bit before eventually settling down into a long term relationship.

it was a struggle rejecting hookup culture in a generation thats too immersed in it

Stood up once at maybe 24 or 27 lol. Often aren't swiped on dating apps yet that's understandable of 100 women versus 1000 competing or more guys lol.
Uhh what else... women who have flirted with me with their staring eyes or with their frequent "implied come over here's and chatty smiles" that weren't for a fast buck in the tip jar (there was none) or as a frequenter (barely there twice a month) - the single women themselves were often their own letdown ♀️😆👀 in that they didn't ever score me. Not even my 123 (number) 📱🤳🏻 👀

I'm scared of approaching women, even though I want to. I'm afraid of looking like a creep or making them uncomfortable. And because of that, I feel like an undesirable loser and a coward, which sorta perpetuates that cycle. I can take a "no" no problem, what I can't take is being looked at like in this picture.

It's getting harder and harder to meet the right people as you get older. Online dating is terrible and a bar is a terrible place to pick someone up.
