Well I put that right up there with women who do that with men just for verbal attention she gets. Even though she has no, will never have physical attraction to him.
The reason is probably the same for both genders. But I don't understand why women do it. I mean WHT is the point of a man who feeds you compliments if there's no connection to him? What do you get out of that?
