I don't understand the question. I don't understand what him leading has to do with there being a conflict with his happiness. Can't you just ask him what what will make him happy & do that? If he says nothing makes him happy except him leading, then kick up your heels & relax. You've got it easy because he is happy only while leading. Again, I don't know if I'm even answering your question right because I'm not sure I understand the question. I don't see a problem, only a less stressful relationship where you don't have to worry about pleasing a man.
The short answer is that you don't, since the relationship is about the both of you. Also, he'll communicate what he wants - not us.
Be how you would like to in a relationship for the type you want personally and if he mentions an issue, then you can talk about it. It's fine if it doesn't work out, as it just means you both are incompatible.
