Why did he act so tense?

I went on a first date yesterday with a guy I met on a dating app. He seemed engaged and called me gorgeous in our messages before the date. I was about 15-20 minutes late. When I got there he didn’t compliment me and seemed so serious. He kept intensely gazing at me for the first 5 minutes. He asked questions about me and was making conversation but I could sense he was super tense. He kept looking at his watch like he couldn’t wait to leave. He said he had to wake up early for work. The date was like 45 minutes and right when he finished eating he asked for the check. He didn’t even wait that long and got up to pay the check and was super impatient. During the date he’s like we should hang out another time but was so tense. I could feel the hostility the entire time. Well he unmatched me after the date. Why would he act like that?

Hmmm he probably didn't like that you made him wait and that was a huge turn off for him. Or perhaps he's not very experienced when it comes to dating.
