I asked a guy out a month ago, the other day I asked him if he wanted to go to a movie, he said yes and we are going this coming weekend. Would guys consider this a date or hang out?

He's the one who will have to decide if it's a date or a hang out.
If he thinks you are just friends, he may think it's just a hang out. If he's attracted to you, he'll treat it as a date.

If he's shy or slow on the uptake, you might have to be more obvious with flirty body language, like holding his hand, leaning against him with your head on his shoulder, or looking up at him with inviting eyes that say "Kiss me."
