Difference between a date and hanging out?

We've always liked one another but never really said it out loud. Last time we met, she said it's better to be friends because we're different religions. However she proceeded to say, be happy cause if we were the same then I'd be her boyfriend. Later that same night, we spent hugging and kissing. She had her arm around me and I had my hand around her waist. I asked her if she was comfortable and she said 'very'.

Anyway, this time I'm going to her city. It'll be just me and her, spending the day together and then going for drinks. She knows I'll have a hotel booked too. I asked her what the likelihood would be of going out and she said 'very likely'. Date or just friends hanging out?

Agreed upon Contract is Date. Both Parties designate as date.

Here’s a way to do this frankly. So when you catch up with your lady friends this week, did you go on a date?-Derivatives of this but what we guys think is irrelevant.

Date is a committed action where choice was made signifying importance and intent. Hangout is not. Transition down: Date to hangout. Transition up: we hung out and going on a date…minor league game (women laughter) next weekend.
