Not for a first date, especially if it's someone I haven't known that long or met online. I'd prefer a boring old coffee shop first date. I'd feel too vulnerable for a picnic expedition first date. But as a general date idea, I think it's fun. I love the charcuterie and fruit, so classy! And kite flying can be irritating and frustrating, so it would be a good way to assess how the other person handles it when things get tangled or crash. :D

I think that would make for a great first date. I often take girls for a picnic on a 2nd or 3rd date. First date you are just getting to know her and you can ask questions about what they are comfortable with. Although, most girls would likely appreciate going out for a planned picnic, they may not be totally comfortable with a guy in a park-like setting for a few hours.

I had a zero percent success rate with taking women on the exact kinds of “ideal dates” scenarios they wrote into their profiles. They were always “walk on the beach at sunset” and crap. But i never had a second date even if it seemed to go well. ONE woman was honest with me about feeling like i chose the “cheap” option instead of taking her on a “proper date”. After i pointed out that i did my best to replicate her “ideal date” she started with, “Well i just feel…” and i hung up on her. Obviously i don’t have that kind of proof, but i’m fairly certain the entire reason i never got a second date when i was doing that was because the women assumed i was being cheap, instead of romantic. Ell oh ell!
I’m also pretty sure that’s why POF removed the “ideal first date” from their profile concepts.
