Why is it that women are usually attracted to 'dark' guys?

This is completely subjective and this doesn't apply to all woman. But I've noticed that most women are mainly attracted to guys with predominantly dark features for exampledark hairand tanned skin.

I only see two obvious personal benefits in a darker skin tone as opposed to a lighter one. One is that tanned skin could signify time beneath the sun, leading to signs of hard work and athletic experience. Another is that a very dark skin tone usually does not fluctuate in chromatic colour so there is a deeper visual sense of intrinsic stability in the person’s appearance. I prefer lighter tones on men, because I associate lightness with soft things like pillow cases or sheep and blankets and it is the colour of most of my childhood friends when I first came to Canada.
