Ex is my reporting manager?

He proposed me nd I rejected. Then I proposed and he rejected. Both of us had huge ego. I hooked up, he became mad and things ended. He was never respectful or kind.
Last week we were together for 5 hrs sitting next to each other and both of us didn’t talk and I could see he was visibly angry.

Today I got my job offer letter which clearly mentions he is my immediate reporting manager.

I'd maybe try talking to him and setting some clear boundaries ASAP. Let him know this is a professional relationship now, and you need to keep things 100% platonic and drama-free for the sake of your work.

See if you can switch to a different team or manager eventually too. In the meantime, be super professional but also cordial I guess? Like don't start shit but don't take his crap either if he's still salty about y'all's history.

Keep all your conversations work-related only. Avoid being alone together. And document everything in case he tries to pull some petty revenge crap against you.

Definitely not an ideal setup! But hopefully if you're both mature about it, you can find a way to make it work without killing each other lol. Good luck girl, keep your head up!

I don’t think he is mature enough. While he acts all matured and wise, he acts immature around me. That’s why he is still salty about the rejection that happened 10 years ago and the dumping 2yrs back. Well even if he is not on the team (assume) but working in the same place, him acting ignoring me too much and staring me from his seat definitely gather attention.
He is pretty infamous to ignore me when I try to talk and stalk me and look at me from distance. Which was always something when we were together and he still does.

If it was me I'd call him out next time for sure. Be like "bro what's your problem, you gonna talk to me or just creep from across the room like a weirdo? We're grown, get over it already." Don't let him intimidate you, stand up to that clown. Dude needs to learn some respect.

Ngl though, if he's gonna be distracting you at work like that then I don't blame you for thinking of switching companies. No paycheck is worth dealing with some guy's hurt fee fees on the daily, that's wack. You deserve to feel comfortable at your job, not stressed about running into your lame ex.

Maybe put your resume out there just in case. But then again, you shouldn't have to leave - HE needs to check himself and grow up. Keep your head high, don't let him get to you! His sad boy act isn't your problem.
