When you like someone, do you follow dating advice, typically seen online (eg. The "push and pull method") to not seem as interested and/or more attractive? If so, what methods do you use, and does it work? or do you prefer to be straightforward and genuine?

Methods? I mean probably unconsciously I use my academic and professional training while I'm listening to a guy. I can see patterns in the way he expresses himself and can sense where there's a stress point even if he doesn't mention it (because it may take some doing for the guy to mention that something is hurting or bugging him). Yeah, they do work in general, however I also don't like to waste my time on guys who will just set a girl in a tailspin for no reason...

These are just manipulation techniques, not methods. Methods are about improving yourself and knowing how to present your value. Obviously manipulation is more common than presentation of value tho...
