Why do some people go into dating with expectations?

I used to go out on dates with the expectations of getting to know someone on a personal level (not necessarily sexually either) to see if we are a good fit. I fell in love with my wife on our first date. And knew I wanted to be with her. 7 years later. Still thriving!

I don't think it's right to go into a date with the expectations of getting laid. Or to get a free meal. Only thing I ever expected from a date is some company and socialization to get to know them as a person and find out what they enjoy.

Exactly. Lol, my wife paid for our first date. Not because I asked or b3caus3 I wanted her to, and not because I was cheap. But because when paying, the hostess locked my account by scanning my card to many times.

Wife never let me pay her back either.
