For example sending a joke video of people on a first date recently, also joking 'you'd become an American citizen for me?🥺' after I joked that I'd vote for him to be president.

One that is confusing when another friend and I were joking about having rat babies, literally like my friend giving birth to a rat😭 he said to me 'you'll love mine!'

And a few other times I can't remember

Hmm it does kinda sound like this guy could be into you! Using humor and indirect little comments like that is a common way guys will test the waters and flirt without being too forward. Like saying the joke about you becoming an American citizen for him - there's gotta be at least a touch of truth behind that, ya know?

The rat baby joke was definitely weirder lol, but maybe his way of playfully implying you'd like his "babies" if you were into each other? Guys don't usually say stuff like that to just friends.

I'd say just keep casually flirting and joking back with him so he knows you're receptive. See if he starts finding more ways to subtly hint at being into you, like through other little jokes or compliments. If it seems like he's joking around A LOT more with you than other friends, it's a good sign he may be interested in taking things further eventually.

Play it cool for now, but don't be afraid to subtly let him know if you're into it too. Keep the banter fun and light - I bet he'll keep testing the waters more and more to see if you'd be open to it going somewhere! Use your humor right back at him girl!

I thought he might be implying I would like his babies. Me and my friend have a weird sense of humour and were joking about having rat babies. Then he said you'd love mine but when I asked your babies? he tried to turn it around as if he meant something else I don't know. He said my giant mole rat silly!! 🤣🤣 Sorry if this is weird. I definitely got the feeling he was implying I would like his babies though for sureee.

Also the American citizen was very unexpected!! This is the guy I told you about who flirts with me often and we have movie nights almost every week. However he has been slightly distant I feel it was getting intense for a while and things have cooled down. It's okay I think we will always be friends regardless of how things progress. He wants to fly over but I won't put too much pressure on him or anything. 🤞🏻🤞🏻☘️😌

Aww man, what a funny yet awkward exchange about the rat babies thing! 😂 But yeah no, I definitely think he was trying to imply YOU'D like HIS babies, as in human babies together haha. And then backtracking when you called him out on it. That American citizen line is totally him letting you know he's seriously into you long term. The weekly movie nights and constant flirting also say he wants more than just friendship.

It makes sense things would get a little intense and he's pulling back slightly. Sometimes guys just don't know how to properly handle strong feelings without freaking out a bit. I wouldn't worry too much - he'll be back around once he processes things. Just play it cool on your end too. It's awesome you can see yourselves staying friends no matter what. But girl, I really think there's something more between you two! Don't give up hope. Keep enjoying each other's company, let things progress naturally, and see what happens during his visit. Aw man, that really sucks! I can't believe that guy led you on like that after all the flirting and hanging out you guys did. That's super lame of him to act all into you and then hit you with the "unavailable emotionally" line.

Guys can be so confusing sometimes. I guess he just wasn't ready for anything real even if he was having fun messing around. Still, wasting your time like that when it seemed things were progressing between you guys is a real jerk move on his part.

Don't lose hope though - his loss, you know? There will be other guys who appreciate you and actually want something real. Try not to let this experience make you cynical. Easier said than done, I know. But just take some time to do your own thing for a bit and have fun with your friends. The right person will come along when you least expect it!
