Would you date a guy who doesn't drink?

Question

He’s totally fine with you drinking, no history of addiction or anything. Just no desire to drink. Happy going to parties or bars etc.

I was assuming the question was about drinking alcoholic beverages.
It seems almost every guy I ever dated or had a relationship with either was a drinker or used something to get high. I call them chemicalized people.
You aren't with the real person when they drink or do drugs. So, what's the use of being with them?
I always got along best with guys, including my first husband, that didn't drink or do drugs of any kind.
Relationships are so much easier when both people don't drink alcohol and or are high on something.

I don't mind a guy who doesn't drink bc I don't like to drink.

I hate the taste of alcohol and will only drink if it's a social event with nothing else to drink.

I used to drink just to get over my social anxiety but I no longer have anxiety and if I am overstimulated - I will leave or go take a nap in a safe secure area.

I would have dated a girl who does not drink. Most girls not only drink but get drunk. Most girls say they want to hang out with their friends but are they actually hanging out with friends, going to the movies, shopping, getting coffee? Usually friend time means getting drunk at the club talking to guys all night and getting hit on and approached all night.

Today “a drink” doesn’t have to be caffeinated or alcoholic at all… if he joins me in a seltzer … perhaps an Arnold Palmer (1/2 iced tea, 1/2 lemonade) or whatever alternative he prefers, we’re still being social at a party etc.

This question is not for me... but I am curious what people say.

I don't drink alcohol... I've never been big on drinking alcohol... and the last time I have had a drink, a glass of white wine, has been nearly 4 years ago.

I don't go to pubs nor bars... and generally can't stand people who are drunk; no issues if it is occasionally, but people who go on a binge every Friday till Sunday; not my kind of people.

I mean, drinking alcohol is a choice. If he just doesn't like it, used to drink too much of it, or whatever reasons he has, it's fine. No one should have to feel obligated to drink alcohol just because they're an adult. I only drink once in a while, but that's about it. I drink coffee & water more than alcohol.

If I had the choice, I'd prefer a guy who wouldn't drink. But if he does, it's better if he doesn't drink his brains out. Been there, done that. No need for it anymore. I drink rarely and in tiny doses and if he does enjoy a drink once in a while too, perfect.

Honestly I'd prefer if a girl drank. There is a type of bonding you can only have when you know you're in the same mental state as your partner. It's not as enjoyable when they're not in that same mental state as you.

I don't mind a girl that doesn't drink, but I'd definitely prefer if she does.

i don't date guys but i won't date anyone who doesn't drink. cause usually that means 1 of 2 things.
1: they're living halal meaning they're muslim which i won't date.
2: they are a recovering alcoholic and thus can not drink alcohol.

From my experience, men who are not into drinking will not take a woman who drinks seriously long term. I’ve never seen it happen. Deal with someone who’s into what you’re into doesn’t have to be excessive.
