If he didn't have much of a relationship with the grandmother then yes, it would be weird. But if he did know and get along with her very well then it makes sense for him to attend her funeral. As he's going to pay his respects, not for his ex girlfriend.

Today I came across my ex boyfriend at my town's local 4th of July fireworks show and he asked me to greet his mother who had come to visit, as she had been asking about me. It felt a little weird at first, but I had gotten along with her very well when we met last year and yeah it was worth saying hi to her. Not because of my ex, but because she had always treated me with respect.

Soon he will be your next ex. Let it go. Not worth fighting over. When I was younger something similar happened to me. My ex, she cheated on me. But her grandma loved me. My ex was always getting w dude’s who were no good. Me I was different. I chopped wood, cleaned up the yard, etc. So over time I developed a good relationship w her. Even after my ex cheated on me I always made it a point to see her grandma. Not cause I missed my ex or something. Not cause I was reminiscing. But because I loved her. She was like another grandma to me. Once she passed away I left it at that. Have not talked to my ex ever since. That was some 20 plus years ago.

Why are you upset about that? She was probably someone that was an important part of his life , How would you feel if someone that you were close to passed away , and your boyfriend told you that you couldn’t attend the funeral? That sounds pretty obsessive to me that you would be upset about that? Please explain why that bothers you?

If you are mad about someone paying their respects to someone who died.. there might be something wrong with your reaction.

I assume you mean that he attended the funeral of his ex's grandmother. If he had developed a relationship with her, attending the funeral was a respectful thing to do. Did he tell you about it in advance?

You shouldn’t be upset about that. What if he had a good relationship with your father. Then you two broke up and you father died and he went to your father’s funeral. Would that be wrong? Let it go! If you’re going to be mad about that. It must be because your very insecure.

It's a death in his family. It's pretty normal for people to go to their family members' funerals. Why wouldn't he go to the funeral? Is there some personal conflict there?

That's not a problem, maybe him and grandma really got along, maybe he's sad about her passing. You don't necessarily have to cut all ties with people you met while in a relationship.
