Is financial stability essential for a relationship?

Yeah of course. Part of laying out the foundation of a good and lasting relationship is to determine a path for financial stability.
Financial issues and disputes are usually one of the biggest stressors for married families. You should always have a reliable financial advisor you both trust and a clear plan for living within your means, etc etc etc.
The prenup also contributes to financial planning and sets both members of a couple at ease bc they know where they each stand from the start.
Its a goal but not something i expect off the top
No. Love conquers all.

I don't think it's essential, but I do think there needs to be some potential and a certain level of drive on his part that matches my own. I don't think it would be fair for me to have reached a certain level of stability and have a guy who just hangs around, eating my food and playing video games, talking but not acting on anything.
I can support during hard times because I'm really good at looking at the bigger picture (been there, done that). But I make sure I research my investment before I let my emotions go. This might sound a bit cold, but a guy is similar to a business venture in that there are indicators of potential for growth and a positive trajectory. I won't try and change a man who is never going to be stable or responsible, but I sure as heck would support one who has the focus and the drive to make it happen, even if we're both broke to start out with.
Money comes and goes, and being broke isn't necessarily an indicator of laziness or being a deadbeat. Everyone is broke at some point in their life (unless they're a daddy's trust fund kid). Sometimes people are broke multiple times. But determination, responsibility and dedication are part of a person's character and personality and those are essential to me. Because if a guy can make it once with the right encouragement and support, he can make it again, and again, and again. Just my perspective...
