When do you think a teen could start dating?

I first dated when I was 14 and she was 13. It was a school sponsored event with chaperones. All the other kids were that age. The teachers were fine with it. My parents were fine with it. My date's parents were fine with it.

But when I look at kids that age now, I think they are way too young to date. But when I did it myself, and so did hundreds of other kids at my school, it's hard to say it's too young.

Some people will say things have changed. Maybe or maybe not. If things have changed it's not because of the kids. It's because of society and the way kids are raised. Whatever factors contribute to it, it's about individuals, not some magic age that you cross and suddenly a kid is ready to date.

If your parents won't let you date, and you are looking for ammunition to argue with them about it, I'll just say that they have the final say. As I said, it's about individuals. They know you and I don't.

I was 13, however it’s likely better 14/15. For me it’s better to start dating when living at home and before you go to university etc. That way all the mistakes you make dating are in a place of safety (home and family close by) and not when 100’s miles away from family. We all make mistakes dating and in relationships, learning from them is important.

I would honestly say 16-18 is doable leaning more towards the 17-18 ordeal. It’s very rare that anything good comes out of those experiences. My sister and her boyfriend are high school sweethearts and from those ages , they’ve had to put a lot to do the sides in terms of realizing they were both immature at those ages.

15 and under is way too young, and you are exposing yourself to possible adult situations that are unnecessary at those ages.

Supervised dating, and dating in groups, at age 15. One on one unsupervised dating at 18. That's what we did with my 3 kids.

When that teen understands how to be emotionally educated, and not be with someone just because of their looks or other superficial things. Because when a person is emotionally intelligent that is when they can understand what it takes to form a good meaningful relationship.

It's hard to put an exact age on it.
It's all about local social norms.
If people around you are starting to. People your age. Then go for it.

But don't be in a rush to find an eternal partner and build a life together. You're young. Take some time. Live a little. See the world.

For innocent dates like school dances, 7th or 8th grade. They had dances for 7th and 8th graders at my Catholic school. Other schools did, too. I went to lots of those.

I had my first real relationship in 10th grade when I was 16. She wasn't quite 15 yet.

I had my first ''date'' when I was 14. It was pathetic, looking at it from today :)

But - well - without studies, no one becomes an expert. Heh heh.

Meeting up with 'your' crush is one thing. But a ''date'' is something else - and something more.

I would be very surprised if anyone is 'ready' for a 'real' 'date' before twenty, or so.

Personally, I would prefer that my children not date until 16, but if they really want to I would be okay with them dating once their puberty is mostly over. My reasob fpr that is just that hormones are so jacked up during puberty that dating really just isn't a great idea. So maybe 16ish for the boys and 14ish for the girls?

Women, whenever they are ready, men not so much. Men usually want the best for their lover. Women, on the other hand, care about money, status, play mind games and use men as bodyguards. Women also can falsly accuse man of rape. It is too much for a young boy and may cause depression. Men should not date fast. It is dangerous area. Perhaps when they are 25 or older it is ok.

Be clear as to what dating exactly means. Some guys thing that means be sexual, some guys think it’s a text once a month when his girlfriend is on her rag so he reaches out to you, some guys think it means he owns you and that ur feelings don’t matter. Be clear to him have that conversation, and if he doesn’t have that conversation then don’t waste ur time gurl

Typically Teens can date other Teens.
The caveat been obvious case like 13 and 17 would be wrong.
Teens should really choose to date within their own social groups making age less hard set but the nature of it been not creepy is less.

It depends on what "dating" means. Having a date to a school dance is not the same as having an exclusive relationship. In the latter case, I don't think I would like my son or daughter dating under the age of at least 16.
