So I matched with a guy through hinge. He's currently a med student getting a PhD. Things were going great we were texting nonstop and scheduled a date. Then he stopped responding entirely.
I asked him if he was still on for the date bc it was coming up. Hoping he didn't ghost me
He responded with asking to postpone the date that he's overwhelmed and needs time to recover with school and is moving too. And "he'll definitely let me know when's he's free :) "
I kinda feel he was saying that just to be nice and doesn't mean it at all
He hasn't reached out since that but views my IG stories , I'm giving him space but I dunno if I should send a quick text with hey how's it going?
I was really interested but I dunno. I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt but at the same time should I move on and cut my losses?

Possibly both... "Busy" and "uninterested" are not mutually exclusive. If he wanted to make time for you, he would.
I dated a guy who was really busy -- had to travel a lot and would get home exhausted. He'd land, toss his bags into his car and head over to see me, whether at work or at home. And it didn't matter if we went somewhere or just hung out at home, it was more about being together and just enjoying one another.
A guy will find time to enjoy with you regardless of how busy or tired or whatever that he may be.
It's tough to say for sure what's going on with him, but here are a few thoughts:
- Medical school/PhD life does get incredibly busy and overwhelming, so it's definitely possible he's just swamped with school work.
- At the same time, postponing the date without rescheduling is kind of a red flag, especially after lots of texting.
- Looking at your IG stories but not texting is also a weird mixed signal.
I'd say give it another week or so with no contact from him before you send a quick "hey how's it going". That gives him benefit of the doubt over the busy schedule. But if he doesn't respond to that or try to set up a new date within a few days, he's probably just not that interested.
As much as it sucks when things seem to fizzle out, you don't want to waste your time or get your hopes up on someone who isn't following through. Try to focus on yourself and other options too in the meantime. But one more little nudge text couldn't hurt to see! Good luck :)
You talk like matching with someone on a dating app actually counts for something.
